Phantom offsides call, when no player was even close to the line.

Yeah the odds are still against Carolina after the recovery, needing a TD and a two-point conversion. But how in the world does a ref just pull a call like that completely out of his ***? Wonder if it was one of the same geniuses who worked to Miami-Duke game?

I'll tell you how a call like that happens. When conferences have their own officials and they have only one team that has a shot at the playoffs. Then phantom calls happen, like there was one second on the clock in the Big 12 championship.

To make matters worse, the ref said afterwards he could have called it on multiple different NC players? What? IF that was the same crew that blew the Miami-Duke game, they need to be relieved of their duties forever, and have their financial records audited. Those calls were so bad, one can only wonder if they had money riding on the game(s).

Some of you old timers may recall when Clemson beat us for their national championship* there were 3 phantom holding calls on Dave Remington our Outland trophy winner who had not had a holding call all year. Just saying Clemson tends to get "lucky" in these situations. If they go on to win a national championship, this one should have an * also.

I'm honestly surprised how quickly this is getting swept under the rug by the media. It blew up on Saturday night, but got somewhat lost behind "The Drive" by Michigan St. By the time the NFL was done on Sunday it seems like it was an afterthought. Like others have said, the odds were still stacked pretty high against NC, but to lose on a call like that screams either corruption or stupidity... And neither is a good look for a championship game crew.
