Can a school like SF play in the prep bowl playoffs if they don't make the playoffs? I know providence doesnt play but can schools like Marmion or SF play in it. I mean do we have the option?

Only original CCL teams also those same original teams can come "back" to the CCL Prep Bowl playoffs if they lose early on in the IHSA playoffs.
Provy should do the games and get the extra practice/playing time - get their Juniors and Sophs some extra experience. They'd be a shoe in to the finals
When the CMC was going on ESCC teams played in it and in catapulted JC in 99 and Com in 03 with the extra time previous seasons.
All blue teams eligible so Rita even at 3-6 would probably play.PC always declined. I think Laurence could use it as a springboard for next year if they got knocked out by Naz. Get an extra 3 games in probably.

I hate to pick on you but your comments are getting border line ridiculous. How is it PC is a shoe in to the finals if they played in the Prep Bowl?

Chances are pretty good that MC, Rice and LA are going to win 2 rounds so who else would they face if they elected to participate?

The thing that gets me is the schools throwing a tantrum about CPS & CCL schools playing in the Prep Bowl Playoffs and getting extra practice.On a side note I think Inner City & Chicago Conference schools should also make the Prep Bowl Playoffs.Stupid Non Illini conference schools have to choose one or the other & Inner City don't go at all.Each AND EVERY school that doesn't make the playoffs and ones who get knocked out can practice until the last day of the football season meaning the Saturday of the state championship games.If they choose not to then don't complain!!!!

If we beat Mac, we're 5-4 and in the state playoffs.St.Rita gets in Prep Bowl playoffs because they play in the tough Blue.Providence is not eligible.St.Francis or Marmion are not eligible.De La Salle with a loss if not eligible.Fenwick is not eligible with their losing record since they don't play in the Blue.You must have 5 wins and not get in the state playoffs or play in the Blue Conference to play right off the bat.The others come from elimination in the State playoffs.That is how their rules were not sure if this year it has changed.Even if you are eliminated from the playoffs early on you may not get to play in the Prep Bowl playoffs depending on how many teams are left

Sorry fellas, it looked like it was getting personal & a bit off-topic with the suggestions to pull butt hairs & watch the Cubs which are equally painful (oops another opinion)!
They are still allowed to practice. All teams, playing or not, are allowed to practice up until the final game is played. That being said, I am not aware of any school that takes advantage of practicing once they have lost their final game.
I think having the Prep Bowl is cool. Not sure why anyone would complain about it. I do wish that others could have some kind of last game after the playoffs (Bowl game type atmosphere) to make things interesting. Example would be ESL vs Althoff. This would be fun to watch depending on the year. A Southwestern conference versus South Seven show down. Just a thought.
A couple of other good bowls would be a DuPage Diocese Bowl (Cath. HS in DuPage and Will Cos v. a Public HS in same footprint) and a " 847 North Suburb Bowl (best remaining finisher of MCC, Viator, Carmel, LA, ND, St. Eds v. best remaining finisher of CSL, NS, MSL, Fox Valley or new conf of NS small schools).
