Cause for concern

Here's the thing and I know game threads kind of get overly emotional and whatnot.

We did play like crap first half. We didn't shoot it well and looked completely disjointed at times. There was reason to be upset.

But thing is:
We played a team where we were like a 30 point favorite. In the history of college basketball, teams that are that large a favorite win like 99.999% of the time. UK plays Nichols 1 million times they win this game 999,999 times.

Lets flip this tho a second:
Let's say that instead of a 40 min game of basketball, the game was say........1 min. 0-0 and each team has one possession say. Now how often does UK win the game vs Nichols? Well we still win the large majority of the time but it's nowhere near 99%. It's closer to 50 than it is 99.

My point is this. Anything can happen in small samples. This won't be the first half we shoot like crap or look awful. I know I'm kind of asking for much here but this is why I would caution worrying about one half (or even one game or multiple games) of basketball.

We do this all the time here and we also do it with other non UK teams. How often do we see one of our hated rivals, maybe they are playing a very weak team and they are down at the half. Eventually, a tread pops up here about that game. Almost every single time tho, the upset doesn't happen. Because eventually over time cream rises to the top.

I'd just let things play out here. We are top 10 pre season for a reason. This has every chance to be a very good team.

I think our outside shooting will be worse than last season but we are more athletic and our D and rebounding should be much better.

The Louisville game will be a good indicator of where we’re at early on, of course, even without everyone healthy. I trust we’ll show well and win the game.

Hello Fellow Big Blue Brothers....I am not the best at the computer and when RR changed several weeks ago, I went to all these different places looking for everyone.
One of the boards I went to seem to think the old RR was a toxic place. Sure there were some folks who were always looking to cause issues but the vast majority of posters truly were Big Blue.

Don't ask me to explain how I found this but I did and after reading several topics I recognized many of the old posters.
I miss the game day threads and the after game threads from you guys.
So many of you that I truly enjoyed reading that if I mentioned you I dang sure would leave some off my list.

Now, with all this You Tube crap, how do I watch the games on SEC+?
At the end of last years season, I bought a top notch 75 inch Sony Bravia TV with all the bells and whistles. Took the plunge and kicked cable out and went to this streaming and now this. Ugh!
Man my day just got great finding you guys.
I got more years behind me then in front of me and I want to enjoy things and drinking my coffee reading everything makes a morning start off good.

I've been saying since summer on here that 3pt shooting would be a weakness for us this year. I expect as a team we will make 33-35% of our 3's. Not bad, but not championship level good. But yeah, we have enough guys capable, that if the right ones get hot in March we can make a run.

We have a few guys that have a really ugly-looking shot. Better defensive teams will only magnify this. If we can avoid this we will be okay. Looking forward to the Cards game to see where we stand.

It's really okay to enjoy these big games like Tuesday and take what comes, celebrate the good and support the team during the bad. Those national championships are rare and can't be the only time we take joy in our team. Pick out some players to root for to stay healthy and succeed. Expecting #9 is a sure way to be disappointed. Expecting to beat Louisville at the Yuk Bucket is just earned confidence.

My thoughts I once had for #9 have changed. The last 2 games have been pretty depressing as I don't see any way we have a chance this year. The lack of shooting is a serious issue and it seems there is no chemistry so far. That could change of course as the season moves on. I can only hope that Lowe makes a huge difference and JQ plays and dominates. Otherwise, I'm not real hopeful for the season.

No. I’m completely done. I see no reason to think Pope can coach a team built like this. My hope before was wrong

I know nothing about JQ’s game, but about anything would be better than the minutes BG is giving us. Let JQ take over and Moreno back him up. If he’s half the defender that he’s made out to be, that’s at least double the output we’re getting from our bigs currently.

Chemistry is definitely not there right now. They don't seem sure of themselves at all and we have guys shootiing 3's that shouldn't be.
