In 2002 we signed Jerious Norwood, Darren Williams, Marvin Birdsong, and Nick Turner. All were highly rated and supposed to be difference makers. We got a badass, a safety who hated contact, a dud, and a crook, respectively. Some of the big names pan out and some don't. Thus far, Mullen has a done a good job of judging character, work ethic, ability to develop, etc. I hope it continues. We will see how it works out with Freeze. He signed a great class, but will have some egos to deal with.

I do like the depth in 2013 and 2012 classes. Much improved over 2010 and 2011. The defensive line has been a point of emphasis and Turner now has some great young talent to work with (Quay, James, Chris Jones, Jefferson, Ryan Brown, etc.). Offensive line numbers also starting to balance out. We will not win in this league without being good in the trenches. We need to whip Ole Miss in November, go back to another bowl, and we will put together another good class in 2014.

The difference between layman talent evaluation and recruiting services between 2002 and 2013 is Grand Canyon wide. Not even remotely comparable.

Atleast in 2002 we got excited on NSD. This year it's like a reenactment of the dance party on Revenge of the Nerds.
