Colonial Beach is up 24-6 with 4 minutes remaining in the 3rd QTR. If CB closes this game and takes the win, do they become the clear favorite for 2nd place in the district? Will CB be the same in district without top offensive weapon from last season A. Lewis #3 who has since graduated. Essex is still the top dog until beaten but with that being said CB should be #2 considering no other district teams have beaten them in a few years (besides WnL huge upset In playoffs). Or does an uproven Northumberland team push them down to the third spot or even Rapp pushing them down to the 4th spot?

WP was up 6-0 with 4 minutes left in the first half, major breakdown in the secondary led to an 18-6 halftime score. There were injuries to key players on the WP squad as well and with the low number of players on the roster they were unable to keep up. The score doesn't show the true story of the game.
This is true, WP has two difficult games to end the season, maybe it will help to prepare them for playoff competition
I think that we will find out today which NND team had overhyped themselves while at the same time making fun of a team that had whipped them two years in a row. About to be three in a few weeks.

What did I tell you folks about Colonial Beach before the season started? I wrote they are easily the second best team in the district and, that they may beat Essex and may actually contend for the district title if Essex were to have a few injuries.
Bingo, except I had them at 5th. The point is, we both knew they would be good.

As I had I my poll in August, the top half NND teams are Essex, Northumberland, and CB, the bottom half is is Rapp, W&L, and Lancaster.
I am not talking smack to anyone - I am just letting lucustookis know - I really think that NHS will beat CB - we are looking real good. (in case you don't know, I come from Essex, I actually know what good looks like

All 3 of WP's RBs went out for injuries, and was a key factor in their loss to CB. #44 was on track for another 100+ yard game and went out late in 2nd Q and never came back on offense. #23 missed most of the 2nd half on offense due to an injury. Kuddos to CB for taking care of business early in 2Q. WP could not make up the points in the 2nd half due to injuries.
This is a correct summation. WP's D was a poor choice from the start; incapable of defending the pass and week on tackle to tackle run support. Making zero adjustments after the first quarter lead to the 18 unanswered points in the 2Q. Losing 3 of WP's key two-way starters prevented them from closing the points spread in the 2nd half. Not taking anything from CB. They had a much better D than Rapp, so I would have to say they should be ranked higher than Rapp.
I believe CB has a chance at winning district for the 2nd time in 3 years. Northumberland is always hyped up that "this is their year" and that may be because typically speaking NHS has a very easy schedule until district play begins. CB on the other hand starts their season with a 3A Spotsy, Franklin and Sussex. I do not believe the Indians have what it takes to beat this WAR tested team. Essex is the only team in their oath in my opinion. The Head Coach, Earl Payton, has coached most of these kids from little league up, this team has bought in for Coach Payton and the community. I do believe this will be CB's 2nd district championship.
With such small numbers, injuries to key players who play both ways, don't know what adjustments were made or not made but it wouldn't have mattered. CB was and is the better team. You harp on the "D" adjustments but don't say anything about the "O" who only scored 6 points other than to say it was injuries. WP has a decent team with a few really good players but in the end the small numbers, injuries, bruises, make this a 7-3/6-4 football team and a first round playoff exit.
Injuries were a contributing factor, but not the primary factor in why WP lost.
And here's why:
WP had sustained drives the entire game, even with #44 out for the entire 2nd half, even with #23 out for most of the 2nd half and even with #4 out for most of the 4Q. WP dominated the play clock 27:08 to 20:52 even with these RBs out. But these were hard fought yards instead of easy yards because CB's D beat WP's OL at the LOS. This resulted in more wear and tear on your RBs who also have to play LB on D, which did not help WP. Kudos to CB for holding WP's #44, (a 215 yards per game RB) to under 60 yards in the first half before he left for an injury. I said in my original post that if CB wanted to win, they had to shut down WP's run game and they did.
What would have tipped the scales in WP's favor was if WP made D adjustments after seeing the success of CB's first offensive possession in the 1Q. Not doing so allowed CB to stay on the field and kept WP's offense off the field for the remaining 3Qs. D adjustments could have prevented 12 of CB's 2Q scores, which occurred with under 3 minutes left in the half. The score should have been 6-6 going into the lockers. A D adjustment could have prevented CB's 3Q and 4Q scores and definitely would have given the WP offense more plays in the 2nd half.
CB earned the W, but you have zero chance of winning if you let the opponent execute their offensive game plan for 4 straight quarters without a D adjustment.
Prayers for WP's injured players to make quick recoveries and be available for KW and Clarke Co. WP will need everyone 100% in order to be competitive.
Side Note: If NHS' OL cannot control CB's DL at the LOS, CB will edge out NHS. CB has a fast, aggressive and well disciplined D.
