Really, really liked the quotes Paul got from him.

Anybody else have a glimmer of hope on Runey, too?

Yes. But the authority on Mississippi State sports, The Shepard, says he keeps hearing Runey will sign. I suppose his "it's going to take a chunk of money" comments could simply be leverage to get as much as possible from the Cubs, but I think you have to believe our chances are a hell of lot better than they were this time yesterday.

I like Davis, but if he is the only one we lose to the draft, I will be very pleased...

is probably playing his cards rather than have any knowledge.

See Chris Garrett.

Personally, I think we have about a 50/50 shot at Runey Davis. I know this may sound cheesy, but I really think he values education. I think some things that are in our favor are the fact that he was drafted lower than he was in HS. It could be in his best interests to play against some better competition in the SEC. But it's all going to come down to money and how much the Cubs offer him.

that he's never really played Division I baseball (I know he spent a year at Texas, but he only had a couple of at bats all year). If he came to MSU and did well for a year, he might have a real chance to significantly improve his draft position and get a lot more money. If I were in his position, I'd lean towards going to school for a year unless the Cubs just made a really good offer.

At this point I think it's just quotes from CC that Paul posted on one of the message boards.

I agree on the productivity comment and coming to State next year. Davis hit .400 in JUCO this last year with 8 HRs and about 40 SBs. If his average falls off to lets say .350, he hits half as many HRs and steals as many bases, he will have better numbers than Jordan Henry had for OM this year...and he was drafted in the 7th Round.

I think "50-50" may be a bit of a stretch. I'd say it's more likely than not that he signs with the Cubs.

Didn't know where else to ask you this, but who is Josh Hodges from Ingomar? He got drafted in the 7th by the Marlins. I've never heard of him.

He was expected to be drafted a lot higher, in say rounds 4-6...
he will not get the money in the 12th he would of gotten there

This will drag on all summer long, as it always does with baseball.
and as for as Gene..he really is just guessing, he has no idea..notice he has no comment or interview with Runey...
There is a reason for that.

So far he is one of only two we might lose to the draft.(Davis and Watson). I dont count Hamilton because we all knew he was going to sign.
