Not sure if anyone saw this on Facebook but Cedar County News had a little story on both Cedar and Hartington Public's football teams. The story included a little video of each team's practice. Well, apparently Cedar was in pads when they shouldn't have been according to the NSAA rules. Someone tagged the NSAA in it and the video was taken down. Anyone have any knowledge of this and will there be repercussions for Cedar by the NSAA? Just found it interesting.

The NSAA addressed the issue with Cedar Catholic and they were penalized practice time. As of now I don't see any further punishment to be handed down.

I hope the punishment at least makes a difference and hurts a little. Otherwise teams will just start disregarding the rules and will run rampant.

Is Cattau still the AD? He could do something very funny……

Wonder what “penalized practice time” really means?

No heat acclimatization - in this weather? Yikes!

If it's anything like a previous experience I've had with the NSAA regarding broken rules, it'll be no more than just a slap on the wrist.

Any idea how much practice time? And how would they police it?

Don’t know what the reduction of practice time consists of . But the Higher ups at Cedar aren’t Stupid they will police it . They get caught again and I would guess it would be forfeited games and that would include fines . It’s a1000 /game to forfeit .

Why in the hell would you allow video of a practice when you were willing breaking the Rules? They had to know someone would see this a notify the NSAA .

Why weren’t they policing it in the first place?!

I am assuming they didn’t think it was necessary. Chad never did this .
I agree. I’m sure Chad never did. One would have to guess that first week acclimatization process is one of the first things mentioned in the coaches mandatory rules video.

The thing that makes me even more skeptical, is once they found out it was on social media, they took it down…….. and obviously tried hiding it.

Cedar Catholic High School does not control the social media page for the Cedar County News. Though if you ask anyone from Hartington Public or Wynot they may disagree. LOL.

Agreed! And the punishment just shows that NSAA doesn’t want to get involved and pretty much allows schools to do whatever they want.

I wouldn't go that far. As far as we know, this is a first offense, and as such, the repercussions seem appropriate.

I respect your opinion. In my opinion, I don't feel that teams will see that punishment and stop them from doing what Cedar did. How does the NSAA monitor that they lose practice time? Cedar submits a plan to the state - who says they follow that?

What do you think the punishment should be ? They violated practice rules. As far as anyone knows this is the first offense ( at least at getting caught) 😉they gave them a reduction in practice time. Seems appropriate .

Did we ever find out what the actual punishment was? “Practice time” was all I saw. 1 hour of practice time and 3 whole practices makes a big difference.

And everyone saying first offense…… I know for a fact that simple rule is beat into coaches’ heads. Then obviously the cover up of the video getting deleted.

As already stated, I’m sure there are some coaches seeing this and thinking they won’t be afraid to bend rules if it’s just a slap on the wrist.

As I understood it, they basically had to start over on Wednesday in just helmets which wouldn't of put them in full pads until this week.
