All... Ratsy... Mr. Venvertloh is the starter for QND. #16, Jr, looks just like his daddy!
QND looked just alright on Friday night. It's a weird format, so tough to gauge really. Obviously Venvertloh has been in the program a couple years, it didn't feel like the offense was foreign to him. QND kept it incredibly mundane and boring for the St. T scrimmage. Nothing flashy, only a handful of throws, most completed for short yardage. Oliver Triplett (#21 RB) looked a little quicker than last year. Going to need him to carry the load on the ground without the bruiser Ivan Hun helping him out. Saw some sprinkles of talent from the backup trio of RBs. Our JV got whooped up on, I do know that much.
But most importantly, to the Decatur and St. Teresa community, prayers and condolences for the coach/staff member (I'm unclear what his title was so I apologize, not meant to belittle or offend) that passed away after the game Friday night, our thoughts and prayers are with you all during this time. I spoke to him momentarily as I entered the stadium unaware of whom he was or what his fate would be that night. He was on a Gator hauling water and stuff all over and stopped to ask us if we needed anything or if any of the women needed a ride to the away side bleachers as we had my cousin's grandmother with us. Seemed like a great dude. Coach Miller and Coach Cornell obviously schedule this game due to their friendship from their days on the Illini FB team, so this was a tragic bit of news to receive Saturday morning. QND and it's athletic department certainly think highly of our friends at St. Teresa. That came suddenly after the news of the farming accident out in Blue Mound last Wednesday. Prayers to the Ritter family. Been a tough week for Macon County leading up to Farm Progress Show week, which I know brings a lot of revenue into the city. I know the farming community, Richland College community, and the village of Blue Mound lost a real giant of a man. I had the pleasure of knowing Tom and he was every bit of the word "incredible."
