I finally got a chance to go check out the new Central Station Grill for lunch today. I was looking forward to pulling up to a table and enjoying a nice relaxing cold beer in a unique new atmosphere of the Borden Plant. Man was I sorely disappointed!!!!

Gone is The Grill that I so loved and spent too much of my tuition money and study time at having a cold one. Gone is the relaxing casual atmosphere. Instead, it's replaced with a fancier copy of Harvey's..... SAD!!!!

The Bean's had a perfect opportunity to bring something completely unique to Starkville. I really expected to walk into the new Grill and find something that somewhat preserved the history of the Borden plant or the atmosphere that went with that building. Instead, it seemed like a stuffy, black and white formal place where I felt like I should be wearing a suit instead of jeans and a t-shirt. And WTF was up with the lights!!! They looked like they came straight out of an Austin Powers movie.

Someone posted on here a while back that a micro-brewery would have been nice. The Borden plant would have been the PERFECT location for one. It could have been something unique for Starkville. Now we just have a Harvey's copy to go along with the three Bulldog Deli copies.

Come on people. Somebody do something UNIQUE in Starkville!!!!

The ONLY positive thing for me was that the cheese sticks were still GREAT!!! I just wish they still had the Bacon Cheddar sticks.

Just my opinion so bash away if you want!! I don't think I'll be back to the Central Station.....I'm not even going to add the Grill part to the name. I guess my next mission is to check out the COTTON DIST GRILL and see what goes in there!

Otherwise, you can table that microbrew idea until MS joins the 21st century (hell, 20th for that matter). A microbrew would be a waste if you couldn't actually make beer that was worth brewing. Although, the concept of one being in that location is great.

The only reason I ever went to the grill was b/c of its location. Its not like the food was ever something to write home about.

across from campus? Am I right? The only history I can recall of that place is when me and my buddies were playing hacky sack in the front yard and a car pulls up and a short asian dude (with 50 cameras around his neck) gets out with a chick in a robe and they wander into the rubble. We were like, WTF? Turns out it was the playboy photographer and a co-ed shooting MSU's contribution to the "Girls of the SEC" Luckily they didn't use the picture.

and, as a result, I won't be back. I ate at the old grill about once a week, but unless they bring back the old honey mustard and the fries, my patronage is lost. Sucks bc I really liked the Grill. I'll probably just eat mexican more now.

I tried it out for lunch last week, and was shocked and appalled that they changed the honey mustard. The honey mustard from the old spot was the best I'd ever had.

I think you are thinking of the old fallen down creamery that was a HWY 12 and Russell St. across from Fraternity Row. It's gone new and been replaced with the Comfort Suites. The Borden plant was downtown along the railroad tracks at Montgomery St and Lampkin. It was in operation until about five years ago when they moved to Texas.

Borden was a central part of Starkville for a LONG time. There was a LOT of history with that building.

I wouldn't expect any other response for you Cowbell9. It's AMAZING how you can make so many assumptions of a person just based on the restaurant they don't like.

I do actually like the finer things in life. But, if I wanted a finer restaurant then I would just go to Harvey's. I was going to the Central Station Grill for a Grill experience. I didn't want a Harvey's experience. There was no need for a second Harvey's in Starkville.

As for being an ex-con, I was on the other side of the bars with the key!

I thought the Comfort Suites was in front of the ruins, but honestly I guess I have never looked over the years.

He would sell that piece of **** office building across from the Deli. This is a prime location in the Cotton District and it looks like **** because of his office and that gas station. (forgive me Bean family if he has recently sold it)

However, I like the new grill and we needed to put something in that area because it looked terrible also. The more bars and restaurants we can get in Starkville... the better off we are. Especially if they can occupy rundown historic buildings. It makes the aesthetics better in the city plus it saves an old historic building.

Also, nobody gives a **** if you like the food or not.
