Who are realistic candidates for UM at this point?
If Pat Fitzgerald was on the board still I think they'd have pulled the trigger on him
Who knows now...I'm sure they'll chase big names and we'll see if anyone jumps. They had success with an NFL coach before. Maybe Daboll makes sense.

You mean the Pat Fitzgerald who had three 1-8 B1G seasons (1-11 in his last year) in his last 4 at Northwestern?

While MSU may be OK with Iowa level of winning, UM certainly isn't.

Plus after the Harbaugh years, the last thing UM needs is a coach with the taint of scandal (that includes Meyer who isn't going to TTUN).

Campbell would have been a great fit, but so is Dillingham.

Bill Belichick is making some major changes to his staff as he gears up for his second year with the Tar Heels. UNC has fired offensive coordinator Freddie Kitchens and special teams coordinator Mike Priefer

Yes, Michigan would have been chasing him hard. You're putting way too much on his record at Northwestern. There's a reason he had countless other offers over the years (Notre Dame & the Bears practically begged him to leave) and as soon as his case was resolved he got a job in a Big Ten program. He'd do amazing without the restrictions of Northwestern.

Patty Fitz is a great example of how loyalty typically comes back to bite you.

^ That was all before he couldn't even field even a competent O on the field; plus there was never anything concrete, just rumors floated by agents, etc.

If Fitzgerald had ever been offered the Bears job, he would have left.

Any other program would have canned Fitz after his 2nd 1-8 season, and many after his first.
