That's great for the fans. Are they gonna cut a couple of regular season games for the players, so they don't have to play all year long? I'm kidding another. I think it's ridiculous how many games they have to play. Just like I think, it's how ridiculous it is that college baseball season starts in February. I think it should start in March and go through July.

They may cut out conference championship games. I don't see the point of a conference championship with a playoff.

Also it really isn't more games except for 2 teams. 4 teams, of 5-12 will
Lose fist round. Teams 1-4 with a bye. So the championship teams will get 3 games. However most will only get 1-2 games.

I don’t think we stand much of a chance at 12. If it eventually becomes 16, we could make it. To get in the 12, we will have to finish the regular season in the top 10 or be the SEC champion. The G5 and at least one P5 automatic qualifier champion will be outside of the top 12.

It's 17ing criminal to have kept the cfp to 4 teams this long.

No, I don't actually think that's a crime, no need to be all literal and take issue with the wording.

In 2014, State and Ole Miss would’ve made in under the new format (6 auto bids for conference champs + 6 highest ranked remaining teams). Ole Miss would’ve been first team out in 2015, and they would’ve made it in 2021.

*edited to correct with CFP numbers. Used stupid AP poll first time.

12 slots gives us a much better opportunity. This should’ve occurred 10+ yrs ago.
I’ve said for years that the only thing that’s held this up for as long as it has is the big postseason moneymakers’ ability to ensure that they will continue to be the top beneficiaries with the new system. Sounds like they’ve gotten that done

Correct my own post, I see Alabama could be a 5 seed this year. If the playoffs were in place this year, I could Alabama making it to the NC game and have 4 extra games.

So I totally discounted seeds 5-12 as real NC contenders. However, it could happen this year if things were in place.

Nope, the thing I'm seeing is they will bump the season up a week and spread the conference championship games out over Thanksgiving week. That means more 11am games in 100 degree heat.
