I looked up our records going back to 2018, where we lost our last 5 SEC games to end our season.

From those five games through today, Kentucky is 8-36 against SEC and P5 opponents in our last 44 games.

I may have missed some, but I count 7-28 in SEC, 0-2 vs. Louisville, 1-0 vs. Michigan, 0-3 vs. Texas Tech, and 0-3 vs. TCU starting this season.

Good Lord . . . the numbers speak for themselves.

Mercy, that's some depressing stuff right there.

I would have to say that's the worst in Division 1 over that time period.

Remember sitting in the stands for that last home series in 2018 against Mississippi State and looking forward to the post season play that never came.

Who knew that could have been our last day of relevance for quite a while.

2018 started with so much promise. Number 3 in the country. Started off 14-3 and was considered an early season favorite to go to Omaha. I remember Kendall Rogers picking UK as the dark horse for the tournament that year. Then something happened in Arkansas and UK really hasn’t recovered since.

Zack Thompson went 5-1 in SEC play last year too. With no Thompson-like guy this year, I’m pretty worried.

Also lost to Boston College and beat Indiana in 2019.

Gotta see some measure of improvement this year. The bats and the fielding are two areas that can be improved THIS season. Pitching we can make strides but sometimes guys are what they are there. But being smart at the plate and in the field....you can take big strides there with work.

I like Mingione, but the record is embarrassing, and terrible! Had high hopes after Mingione’s first season, evidently it was a mirage.

Hard to argue with everyone but since its early in the season, we now have 14 straight home games against lower D-1 competition. Obviously someone saw this coming and hopes to gain some confidence going into SEC play in the middle of March.

While the coaching decisions, defense and hitting over the past couple of years has been bad, maybe we can win 12 of these next 14 and find a set lineup with consistency and find another pitcher or two that can make us a middle of the road SEC team.

But then he needs to go out and find some better recruits.......

I like your optimism. It is welcomed. Heck, I like it anytime anyone is over here and is respectful. I enjoy the conversation.

Our schedule is favorable up until we head to Vandy in mid-march. Next week will be another solid test as we face Tennessee Tech on Tuesday. EKU isn't great, but they will stretch pitching thinner and then we face a solid NCAA tournament team in UNC Wilmington. Win all of next week and I'll get my optimism out.

First, though... Appalachian State. I might do a scouting thread on them in a bit. Hint: They bad.
