I was meaning to post this earlier, and after reading the post about the GT comments on State it reminded me to do so. The music that is played is absolutely terrible. I'm not talking about the normal songs, but the the "pump you up" songs. Like the GT fan said, the music is awful and played WAY too often. We are not a low-budget NBA team from the 90's or an NHL team, we are an SEC football team, so please quit playing that "oh oh oh oh oh" song where everyone sings along.

The "air-raid" sound needs to go. Terrible. The Physics of Football thing seems like a decent idea but I can never hear the sound and it just looks supid. Another thing: I understand that advertisements bring in tons of money but it seems like I'm watching freaking cabl TV at the games with all the commercials in my face. I'm more understanding of this though because of the money it brings. Finally, those stupid polls like "What was the greatest game in MSU history?" or "Who was the greatest player in MSU history" have to go. The questions are usually ridiculous and flat out stupid.

I understand all of this probably wouldn't get on my nerves as much during the game if we were winning, but I really think changes need to be made. All of these things just make the game experience feel cheap and un-collegiate. Sorry for the rant.

That song is annoying and totally needs to be gone.

The music is finally pretty bad ***. The neva eva neva eva eva neva song needs to be shot in the face and buried out on south farm somewhere.

Also, the jumbotron is freaking amazing, but the obnoxiously loud in your face commercials do suck.

I kind of like the best of polls, those are fun.

I've enjoyed the new experience we have seen at Davis Wade so far this season. They are putting a lot more effort in getting the crowd involved instead of everyone just basking in the sun waiting for the end. Theres always going to be things they can modify but I feel that this years home games have brought a pleasant change in the atmosphere and experience with watching us play.

but the times have past you by grandpa', get use to it because it isn't going anywhere. The music and the production on the Jumbrotron have been excellent this year.

I have an idea for you, when the "pump up" music as you describe it comes on put in ear plugs and break out your most recent copy of readers digest. I bet you will have a ball reading about gardening, politics, Metamucil and the good old days while the rest of the 50,000+ in attendance enjoy the game.

"It's to loud!" "What are they talking about?" - Shut up pap paw, it's 2009

the only one i don't like really is the techno song, but then again i don't like techno in general. but they've done a good job of getting the crowd into it. at least a lot more than "summer of 69" did.

I love it, I have an IPOD list with about 3200 other songs they could shuffle between too. Nothing like loud, pump up the music to get people in the game, the louder the better!

as far as the advertising, I think the price tag was about $6 mill or something like that, and the advertising was going to pay the tab.
So get used to it, no ads = no board. We were told that on the front end.

Not all the rest enjoys it. Some of the crap songs played before the game starts really suck.

I think polls are fun. But where are the poll results? A poll with no results is absolutely stupid - or a scam paid for by Cellular South to generate text messages.

MORE COWBELL!! The played the Walken line to its entirety, finally. It was in pregame though.

our gameday experiences in the past have been lame compared to most other schools our size. That stupid inflateable helmet, Fogelsong flying his relic plane over the stadium killing whatever buzz may have been created by 'bad to the bone'...we finally have some life and energy in our home crowd and the AARP contingent on here wants to shut that down. Next they will want to move gametimes back to 1:30 again.

that oh oh oh oh song had the entire stadium rocking. And that's the point. As a whole, the music was great and the players obviously liked it (important). The crowd got into it.

And by the way oh oh oh oh oh

On the subject of the neva eva song (which I don't mind by the way), who is the - um, "artist" of that particular tune?

Zombie Nation is awesome. I just wish the student section ( and everyone else for that matter) would participate a little more in it. It sounds great when Penn State does it.

Of the around 45k white people in attendance, at least 44,900 would think it was mildly enjoyable.

so we aren't the only SEC school that does it.

My complaint is with the students performance of the maroon, white, fight, fight, fight cheer after the band play's "we're gonna be the hell out of you". They rush it every single time...it sucks.

But, overall the Jumbotron music is great with the exception of the old-timey sounding swing tune they played. Then they showed people in the skyboxes dancing to it. It looked like the scene from Blazing Saddles where all of the white cowboys start dancing to "Camp Town Ladies".

...but the Zombie Nation song is cheesy in my opinion, especially when played every 15 seconds. And I didn't say anything was too loud, if anything it needs to be louder cause I can't hear half of what is being said from the STUDENT section. Like the earlier thread said, I just wish our band could get more involved and we wouldn't have to play techno music constantly.
As I also said, I'm sure this wouldn't be nearly as annoying if I wasn't already pissed off cause we were losing.

The atmosphere at DW has been FAR better this year than any year i can remember. the only thing that pissed me off saturday is when Chad Bumphis made that catch in the second half (where 99% of the time our receivers in years past would have just given up on or got it picked), and they never even showed a replay, they went straight to a commercial on the Jumbotron...we get to watch a replay of a ball bouncing off of Wilder's chest 3 times from 3 different angles but they won't replay one of the best plays of the entire game

While I would love to actually be able to understand what the new PA guy is saying and the Physics of Football series is lame, we've got a huge widescreen and some big *** speakers and we're putting them to good use.

If you're not in love with a couple of techno songs that are ten years old, then you're behind the times.

This is your stance?

That is the only 'Techno" song played. If you don't like it go to Millsaps games instead I guess.

Would you rather us play the twist? Maybe a little brown eyed girl?

That is my stance.

I think the change in music is great. The Physics of Football would be better if you could actually hear what is going on. The polls are nothing but a marketing scheme from Cellular South for text messaging (everyone give us your 10 cents). Getting back to music. Nothing will top the worst ever back in 2004 when we had Kentucky backed up on their own 1 yard line and they played "Counting Crows - Big Yellow Taxi". I wanted to blow my brains out. Talk about the most non "pump up" song of all time.

on a side note there has been discussion that Who Let the Dogs Out is lame. When they played it the players were into it and the fans were into it. Everyone was out of their seat and you could feel the energy. That song needs to be played as much as possible without overdoing it.

I am not a big techno fan, but I love me some Sandstorm. Never gets old.

What is this OH, OH, OH song people are talking about?

I love when the play Put On for My City by Jeezy before the kickoff team is out. That song is deep. Is that the "oh" song everyone is talking about?

that's the one thing that we do that NO ONE else does. and it's not the ghey version - the players apparently like it and get pumped and the crowd gets into it. plus, it evokes such great memories...

i wonder what chuck smooth is up to these days... i bet we could get him for a spot on the mootube on the cheap.

Penn State knows how to party. They don't even need the music

realy glad we play that instead of the baha men. their version is lame.

In the Dome at SAINTS games, after we score a TD, they crank up the Ying Yang Twins - Halftime as the KO team comes on the field. Now that effin' rocks. The team and the crowd get pumped up and are dancing until the ref blows the whistle for the kick.

My wife even points out that the music is 100% improved from past years. All the oldies music over the jumbotron made me want to go to sleep. Now they still throw a few in there and I guess thats ok, but the music is there to get the crowd into the game and more importantly to energize the players. Its not there for a lazy Saturday afternoon.

lemme get this straight...you want them to stop playing songs that people are singing along to...and stop having in-game polls that people respond to...
I didn't hear the air-raid thing so I can't attest to that, but if the majority of the crowd is getting in to it (whatever it is) just go with it. The only thing I didn't like was being unwillingly rickrolled, but hey I've got a sense of humor, I can deal...

I noticed that the photo tarp on the Northeast entrance to the stadium is almost exclusively caucasion fans, the only African American (bottom left area) in that photo is wearing an Alabama hat and he looks mad (probably because the speakers were playing ****** techno music at the time). I agree with him. I hate all the techno music. 90's grunge music gets me pumped up, but that is just because it reminds me of binge drinking and acting like a fool back when. Credit is due to the jumbotron folks for giving a good effort, but did I say how much I hate techno?
