Chants from the dugout

In college baseball, how are chants from the dugout and stuff like that viewed?

I ask because om, among other clubs, always seems to be making some kind of racket from the dugout. I get that baseball needs to be fun for the players and I fully realize that we have our own antics in the dugout, but my question is mainly about chants and such from the dugout. some teams just fall short of what i would call softball (fastpitch) antics...kinda lame. obviously, some clubs have the freedom to do some of this, but i thought i would get a sps consensus....fun or lame?

Baseball has always been suspect toward this. You have a lot of down time, it creates really lame things and it creates the 'maybe this idea isn't so lame. So, there is some level of lameness that all baseball is going to have. However, the softball chants are ghey. That really shouldn't exist past HS. Frankly, our male modeling with our jerseys late in the year was ghey.

Hell, we sang tainted love to the top of our lungs in high school at every home game. It was the only thing that the press box guy would allow us to choose as he was old and thought any 90s music was satanic.

om also has some ritualistic faggotry that consists of what looks like a mullet wearing manager mimicking slobbing two knobs after they hit a double. Let that sink in and quit trying to figure out what om people do.

its not about om, yes, they are the reason the issue came to light, but its more of a broad view of what passes as fun and what is viewed as bush league. i think the ross mitchell fallback and the bench mobb (2nd b is silent) shtick is funny and mildly amusing, but some might view all of that as bush. we dont chant that I am aware of but you run into teams (excluding ole miss if you want to take them out of the equation, which is fine) that do.

I've been to just about every home game. I sit right above the dugout. I've never heard us chanting.

Not sure what you are hearing, but it isn't coming from the Ole Miss dugout.

As far as dugout antics, I like consistent things that teams always do. Like doing something for a 2-2 count, something between innings to a song, trotting to the foul pole and doing something. Stuff that you do every game no matter what.

I don't really like rally stuff. It's kind of dumb when guys try to think something up on the spot. If a team does the same thing every late game, that's different.

Hopefully AHSDawg will allow me to post, but I hate chanting and stuff like that. A little baseball chatter is one thing, but a full out chant is turrible IMO. Don't care if it's Ole Miss or MS Valley St., its aggravating to sit through. Softball would be so much easier to handle if it weren't for the constant, annoying chants and rhymes...

I'll tell you the most bush league thing any of these teams do, and that is calling other teams bush league for trying to make the game fun.

Man, my reading comprehension must really suck.

Again, I'm sorry board master AHS. I profusely apologize. Can you find it in your maroon heart to forgive me??

I'm the opposite. I prefer the spontaneous.

Our Steak-n-Shake rally caps Tuesday were fantastic. And Pollorena's conga line last year was memorable.
