I had some turkey cooked in one last year and it was awesome. Wife bought me one for Christmas last year and I have cooked two turkeys in it and both of them 17ing SUCKED! The breast gets up to temperaure long before the dark meat. I am cooking them breast side up according to directions. Anybody ever 17ed with one? I am ready to put it on the curb for the garbage man.

I cook in mine all of the time. Sometimes as you say the dark meat in the legs takes longer to cook.
I always put my wireless temp gauge in that spot to make sure it is done. I have also found that I can cook a turkey breast much better since none of my family eat the dark meat anyway. Like I said make sure you put the temp gauge in the dark meat area. I have also had this same problem using a regular turkey fryer.

Been using one for years, love the ease of it. I always put my wireless temp gauge in the thickest part of the breast, and just verify with an instant read thermometer when it starts getting close to temp and have never had a problem.

Put a bikini on the breast.

Preform a tent over the breast with pam sprayed on it.
When the Turkey has browned (I usually cook mine on 500 the first 30 minutes to get this) then carefully place the foil over the breast so it cooks a bit slower than the dark meat.

Don't cook it if you don't brine it.
