This Stokes fellow standing by his report. Guess we'll see. No surprise at all if indeed it's true.

Already been canned

I don't think this was a surprise to anyone, or it shouldn't have been, was shocked they hired him to begin with, a panic hire after Saban fell through is all I can think of. At one time he was a top DC but never thought much of his as a head coach. And yes I am fully aware he beat a UF team who shouldn't have been there in a BCS bowl

I'm not aware of any professional connections between Stoops and Strong, so it would be a very pleasant surprise if we brought him in. Bo Pelini on the other hand...

Pretty depressing. I feel bad for the guy.

I don't. I knew it was a mistake when they hired him even though the Transfer U fans thought he was great, he won at UL with the talent that hurtt bought, and I don't believe for a minute that he AND jurich didn't know all about his past, he was talking to the same recruits in Florida when he was there. Why do you think he couldn't take the TU job unless he could take hurtt with him (Jones recruited pretty well there without hurtt) and why didn't jurich fire him when the NCAA wanted him to?

I think he was fired months ago but didn't know it. Or perhaps he did. In any event Texas can do much better than a Charlie Strong. Alabama made some poor coaching hires before Saban so I would not count them out.

Texas should be the number one program in college football. And yes over Alabama because they have tons of money, a huge recruiting base and fans who are football crazy. The right person will put them there.

I am sure Cholly is upset with the 10 million he gets to leave. He will probably be hired back at UL after Petrino takes another job.

I thought it was a bad hire from the beginning. Not that I don't think Strong can coach, I just didn't think it was a good fit. I felt like he was already on his way out, but losing to KU, probably the worst P5 program in the land, and for the first time in 78 years certainly sealed the deal. One has to figure he'll get another job somewhere. Will be interesting to see where.

CCS was wrong for Texas from the get-go. He had never been the head coach at a big-time program and as such was completely unprepared for the Texas gig.

Not getting to play those weak Big East teams has exposed him.
Cholly should have stayed at Loserville where the schedule was a ***** and Cholly got to sleep with the big Lil Brother booster's wife til he got caught..now he's sukkin hind teat..
