Not sure why we'd want him. He just lost to 1-9 Kansas and his defense is one of the worst I've ever seen. He was great with NFL talent at UF as a coordinator and did well at UL with Bridgewater. I'll give him that.

Appears he's getting ready to be 5-6 while losing to a 1-9 Kansas team, players on the Texas bench looked as if they have given up all hope. We all know that by most appearances that Stoops took over for Elliot calling the defense, and possibly could be gone after the year. Is it unreasonable to entertain the idea that we could go out and hire Strong as DC? I seriously doubt he'd ever go that long without a job offer from a bigger program. But that would be a huge upgrade at the Coordinator and huge boost in Florida recruiting. Thoughts?

I think there's a similarity with Billy Gillespie here (although Strong doesn't have the personal issues). He was never a good fit for that job and has probably never been happy there, which effects everything. I bet he gets another chance somewhere decent.

Why not? Talk about someone with something to prove when we play U of L.

Oh, I didn't mean he's available for us. I just meant he's DONE at Texas.

I said he was total joke of a head coach at the start of the season. Without Bridgewater and Show Cause Hurt cheating to get players he is nothing.

Charlie never had a chance at Texas. The "Yellow rose of Texas" was from a John Ford movie and has nothing to do with Texas culture. My Gawd, what idiots post on these boards across college sports.
SanAntonio, I'm not familiar with the situation Charlie inherited. Why are you saying that he "never had a chance at Texas"? Thanks in advance.

So is he going to go down to a coordinator at a power 5 program or will he try being a head coach at a mid major?

The Yellow Rose of Texas is a song about a woman of color and she beat the Belles of Tennessee

I have a feeling he wasn't wanted by many boosters from the beginning and they were just looking for a reason to fire him without being called racists.

Thanks, KyCatFan. I thought Texas would have been a golden opportunity with all of the high school talent in that state.

The Texas Exes (alumni and donors) have enormous influence over Texas football. Their money and influence make our most influential donor look like chump change. At the end of the day they demand perfection in terms of national championship football. They take football seriously and I do mean seriously.

I remember their glory days. They gotta be hating the Bama run. Thanks for the info.

Don't know if he's available but I think he fools around.

Yeah, this is looking ugly all the way around. Uproots his family, moves to Louisville. Cheats on his wife, uproots the family and moves to Texas. And now he'll have to jerk his kids out of school yet again. I think he's about to lose more than just his job.

Mods, what happened to the thread discussing Strong? Was it deleted for something offensive? Or why wasn't it simply merged with this thread. I discussing with another poster and it simply disappeared. Thx

Strong's contract with UTx requires them to pay his salary (5M/year) until Jan of 2019 if he is fired. However, if he is employed somewhere the pay out drops to one half of his salary. So he will be payed 5M a year for the next two years if he does not return to coaching but only 2.5 M if he accepts a job.

I have no idea how this will influence his decision but any reasonable salary as a coordinator will cost him money.

Emily K West (Morgan) a black woman was the Yellow Rose of Texas. She was influential in the Battle of San Jacinto. The song written in 1858 refers to her as better than the Belles of Tennessee.

For more information and the lyrics Google it. All is good.

OK, I'm guilty of not researching as well as you. Thanks for the clarification.

Saw a thing on espn earlier that those$$$$$$$$$ folks have pretty much demanded that CS be fired and they would pay what it takes to get Hermann to Texas...guess this is part of why Texas didn't want them in the B12
