As much as I might like Mt Airy taking its "rightful" place at the top of the list, I suggest it just ain't so.
At this point, I believe either Mountain Heritage, Walkertown or Eastern Randolph would be better choices.

IN my opinion, Mt Airy has the talent but it has not jelled yet into the offensive giant that it has been in the past. They have not formed their offensive identity.
The defense is another matter with the only true weakness is defending the passing. I am afraid that 6A Watauga will expose that in spades this Friday night.

A lot will depend upon whether Taeshon Martin and Zack Goins are healthy and back in the secondary.

My ranking as of today would be something like this:
1. Eastern Randolph or Walkertown
3. Mountain Heritage
4. Shelby or Mt Airy
6. Northeastern

I think many would agree that Shelby is still number 1 and will remain that way the rest of the season. The competition they've faced is greater than the others. I agree with you about the others including Mt Airy. I was expecting Mt Airy to be better than what they are. The defense is still really good but not as good as last year. The offense isn't quite as good as last year or maybe the same and it wasn't good then. The Bears offensive line doesn't seem to be as good as last year either. I do think they have more ability to grow on offense this season compared to last which could really change things. Having Martin to go down for a little while (as sad as that is) could be a blessing in disguise. It will give other kids opportunities to shine.
