Sad part is, unless something major changes (i.e. East Rutherford/Chase consildation) Chase lost every opportunity to beat Shelby in the 70's because it's probably never going to happen now with the year in, year out talent Shelby gets.

And even then the consolidated school probably wouldn’t be considered Chase. The history would start completely over.

The rumor is, and we are talking 5-10 years from now, that there will be 2 county schools. East Rutherford and R/S will become West Rutherford. Chase would go away with half the students going to East and the other half going to West (R/S).

I heard that maybe 10 years ago lol makes sense from a financial perspective....interesting...rumors pop up from time to time about a cc high school in Grover but that ain't gonna happen.

I'm okay with it, it should bump both schools up to 3A. I know education is the most important thing a child can get (if you believe all that crap over priced colleges tell people) but if TJ, and cleveland early college, and pinnacle disappeared, we could have some decent rivals to our west for ole Cleveland County.

Chase tied Shelby in 1968 28-28 at Chase and then in the playoffs Shelby beat Chase pretty bad. Chase had a really good QB last name of Cobb I believe. This was before the McSwains were at Chase.

I have watched Burns play 2 times this year....They are good but are never ready defensively until about the 15 second mark....Newton would have 3 open wide receivers but would wait for the Burns defense to get set before hiking the ball...South Point would line up and go taking advantage of the defense not being set on the outside...if Chase is really fast on the outside that can cause problems for Burns....

Man you could consolidate East/RS/Chase all together every year and they'd never beat Shelby... Hell for that matter they'd never beat Crest or KM... And may, MAY, get Burns like once every 30 years...

I have to agree with 72special on this one, it wasn't long RS had a team that made Shelby sweat. 2009 I think was the year. ER had 05...Chase had Carlos. Combine all that into one team with the right coach...you've got a state champion caliber team.

Thanks Mopar. I knew it had been a good while. From what I hear the chase coach is pretty confident telling his boys I'm from Crest and we dont lose to burns. Lol....I give the folks from 6 points my respect for being undefeated at this juncture of the season. Go Dogs !

They blew everyone out that year till maybe 2nd round playoff game against Shelby at Gardner Webb. Not sure on what round it was.

Small nitpick...we hosted them in 2016. The 2008 game was also at Burns. (Worst homecoming ever). He will finally travel to Chase as head coach next year, just the way the schedule worked out.

It should have been a lot worse than 41-6. I think I counted 4 Pryor touchdowns but only two of them counted. The refs wanted to make sure we had the lowest margin of victory among the county schools I guess. But WAY TO GO BULLDOGS. Welcome to reality, Trojans. And next week, due to a scheduling quirk from changing conferences we have to travel to East Rutherford for the second year in a row. GO BULLDOGS.
