So I’m a pretty positive NU fan, but I am done watching Chase Audige. Thanks for your defense and your minutes, but I just don’t like watching your offensive game. I can’t believe he’s a fun teammate.

Even if he helps us get to the tourney, I am ready to move on. I can’t think of a top 3 NU squad member I dislike watching more.

He has the most assists on the team for this game atm.

Wow, really. I don’t think any of these guys are more talented (or helped us win more), but I have enjoyed boo, nance, Greer, Spencer, young, Gaines, Nicholson more than I have enjoyed watching Chase.

If i had to pick one member of the team to use to describe my response to this post, it would be: BOO!

Sounds like a personal problem to me. Kid gives us everything he has for 40 minutes a night.

I’m not sure we are watching the same Chase. Love the kid and his game is elite. He gives it all every night and takes on the other teams best scorer each time with success.

Chase made like six or seven absolutely boneheaded mental mistakes down the stretch of this game that a team less incompetent than OsU would have probably won as a result of. He had the huge three late after bricking all day and did grab the late board and 2 FTs after his errors brought it close. Obviously he did great things defensively for most of the first 16 minutes, but that was a pretty bad game by Chase overall, and his mental game has been pretty bad for the last couple games. He needs to get back dialed in.

I disliked him last year in a way I haven’t disliked a Northwestern player in more than a decade, but I’ve turned a corner this year and am on the bandwagon. He had an awful day today on offense (except for the huge 3!) and made some dumb plays, but he’s one of the best guards in the conference and top-2 best defensive player.

He seems to make his bad mistakes in the last few minutes of games, and I can’t help but wonder if he’s just gassed and still trying to play hard and fast, but slows down enough he can’t quite do it.

Hmm, probably should 🙂. But will try one last dig in.

Top 2 scorers from the last 20 years. Yup, Chase is my least favorite, though kopp is a very close second. Maybe I just love me some lovable losers.

Wow, you disliked Chase more than Kopp?

This isn’t football and players need to excel in both offense and defense. Chase is the best defender we have had in years. I can’t think of a better one in the last two decades. Couple that with being one of two consistent scoring options on the team and you have a helleva player. Much improved!

Given our terrible basketball history, it’s actually pretty possible he’s the best defender in Northwestern history, especially the best guard defender. Pat Baldwin was the only other NU player to win conference D PoY, which Chase is probably in line to win.

I really don’t think it’s warranted to defend Chase in the context of putting other guys on this list down. Especially after that win – it wasn’t his best offensive game, but he’s still scored in double digits every game but 3 this season. You get *something* out of him, and tonight that included a really big shot down the stretch.

Last season was a nightmare, especially for him. Now his shooting #s have bounced back, he’s a noticeably better playmaker, and he’s had to make some tough shots on an offensively challenged team. Maybe he’s not ideally one of your top 2 scorers, but he’s done an admirable job in a situation where he’s had to be. And that's all to say nothing of him being a B1G DPOY candidate. I’m (super duper cautiously) excited for the rest of the season!

One big reason Chase is playing much better this year is because he is healthy.
Last year he was maybe 80%.He plays 38 to 40 minutes a game guards the other teams best scorer and is our second leading scorer. One of the top defenders in the nation.Suffice it to say we would not be have the record this year without Chase. As he said after the Wisconsin game he is gonna make some mistakes but I'll take him anytime.

Weird take. I mean, he’s a college kid that tries hard, represents the school well, and helps us win. Will be 1st team all D. “Thanks for your defense and minutes”??? Sorry, what more do you want here?

Imagine complaining about the best player on the team and an all BIG player. SMH
And one who plays nearly 40 minutes a game, is recovering from COVID, and plays defense at an all-B1G level. His play can be frustrating at times, sure, but he's single-handedly won more games than he's lost for us.

Jim Jackson is also an OSU guy and although I like his insight and color commentary it is a little sweeter having him on this broadcast and watching our CATS take down his buckeyes.

Hi Rise.

Its cool that you are a pretty positive NU fan. You are entitled to your opinion. Obviously, Chase Audige is a better defensive player than offensive player. He takes a lot of shots and misses most of them. Not as valuable as Buie on offense, clearly. There are other options and he (Audige) seems to think he is better than he really is at scoring points... but he has played better this year than last year, especially shooting the 3. And he plays hard. He takes on tough defensive assignments. I think his teammates appreciate that and like him, other than the occasional brain cramps during the game.

Your comment was just a little negative, thats all. You probably should have simply written "He's not one of my favorite players because of what he does on the offensive end."
