The NCAA ruled that a company, the Starkville Ramada Inn, was a "representative of athletic interests" when those two players stayed there and didn't have a receipt for payment of rent. The NCAA had no history or basis to call the Ramada that, so the NCAA made that determination AFTER the fact. So by their reasoning, any stranger that has no ties to MSU could give a recruit money, and if that players signed with MSU the NCAA would THEN call that stranger a booster and give MSU a violation. Or it could be a UM alum that gives recruits money, SUV's, tuition, tutors, etc. and the NCAA could ignore the whole thing.
P.S. The blogger needs to IMMEDIATELY take down his blog, stop contacting recruits, and get cleared by our compliance rep (Bracky Brett?) before proceeding any further.
Can someone send a link to the blog to our compliance guy? The blogger might not do it and could keep us from being able to recruit some of these kids.
