Bruce Springsteen said at a concert in Australia he's embarrassed to be an American.
The 67-year-old addressed the crowd as "embarrassed Americans" referring to President Trump in the White House in a newly-surfaced clip from his show in Melbourne Monday night.
He sang a cover of "Don’t Hang Up" mocking Trump’s phone call with Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull.
He said, "We stand before you embarrassed Americans. This is a song from 1965 by The Orlons and we're going to use it to send a letter back home."
Springsteen also announced his band is a part of the resistance against the Trump administration.

I've never cared for him, and just like the Dixie Chicks, he made a huuuuuuuge mistake. He's lucky he's an old washed up scumbag. Otherwise, this would have cost him dearly.

Who actually likes his music? I can honestly say that I don't have any friends that actually listen to his music, but yet, he's a mega star, and sells out venues. Quite frankly, I can't even understand the words that come out of his mouth when he sings. I can actually understand snoop dog's lyrics more than this POS.

I'm not a fan of Trump by any means but celebs playing politics is one of the things that really bugs me. I didn't see Bruce turning down all the money and fame he got over the decades from the entire country, half of which voted for Trump. I didn't see him saying to his fans back then "If you're political views are so and so then you're an idiot and I don't want your money." Nope, he lapped it all up. But now that he's got it and it can't be taken away, now he's pontificating.

Bruce campaigned hard for Hilary as did many other celebs while Trump didn't have many celebs going for him. And Trump won. I wonder if maybe that's not a coincidence.

To me he is and has always been plus can't sing worth a lick.

I like some of his songs but it has kinda amazed me that someone got so popular for so long being that bad a singer. His kind of voice goes well with some of his songs but every song on an album being sung by a guy with that voice? That would wear me down. It occurs to me that I don't have any of his albums. I will still however crank up Jungleland or Born To Run or Glory Days or some other of his tunes when they come on the radio.

P.S. Then again, compared to Bob Dylan he's Luciano Pavarotti.

Musicians and actors can be political too, people caring about it like it should influence their opinions is pretty stupid.

Yes....but he should be proud to be an American. America has made a lot of things possible for him regardless of his politics.

We all should.

It's OK to be ashamed by the actions of our leaders but still love our country. If you love your country it's your responsibility to hold them accountable.

There seems to be some sort of cognitive dissonance or something that's pervasive. If somebody is a staunch republican or a die hard supporter of a candidate, and that candidate does something stupid or illegal, it's OK to say that it was stupid and illegal but still like them and support them. The same goes for democrats.

Most of us are parents. Our kids do stupid things and we are sometimes disappointed, but we always love and support them. I'm not sure why that concept is so hard to grasp in the political arena.

I know you don't agree with this, but right now, it is a very embarrassing time to be an American around the world.

We had to have Senator McCain call Australia and apologize.
UK collected over 1.5 million signatures to try to keep our Prez out.
Mexico...enough said.
China wants to go to war with us.

Helluva two weeks.

I also bet you would NOT even think about going to another country and say you were ashamed to be an American

those of us on the right also felt the same way about the previous president. we thought he was a joke and a detriment to our country but when he announced that bin Laden was dead, we were all Americans then, we were all Americans when Michael Phelps kicked ***. Americans love a winner and will not tolerate a loser.

I would prefer to keep the UK as our friend and I would convince Mexico that it is in their best interest to stop illegal border crossing.

Anti-war isn't anti-America, and that song should represent something truly American to the rust belt Trump supporters.
I thought the song was more about the ****** treatment the Vietnam war vets received upon coming home. The irony is that it was 'his kind' that led the ****** treatment...and now their sons and daughters are the ***** hat wearing rioters we see on the streets today.

And a big anti American song.

Here are the lyrics:
Born down in a dead mans town
The first kick I took was when I hit the ground
End up like a dog that's been beat too much
Till you spend half your life just covering up

Born in the U.S.A., I was born in the U.S.A.
I was born in the U.S.A., born in the U.S.A.

Got in a little hometown cream
So they put a rifle in my hand
Sent me off to a foreign land
To go and kill the yellow man

Born in the U.S.A., I was born in the U.S.A.
Born in the U.S.A., born in the U.S.A.

Come back home to the refinery
Hiring man said "son if it was up to me"
Went down to see my V.A. man
He said "son, don't you understand"

I had a brother at Khe Sahn
Fighting off the Viet Cong
They're still there, he's all gone

He had a woman he loved in Saigon
I got a picture of him in her arms now

Down in the shadow of the penitentiary
Out by the gas fires of the refinery
I'm ten years burning down the road
Nowhere to run ain't got nowhere to go

Born in the U.S.A., I was born in the U.S.A.
Born in the U.S.A., I'm a long gone daddy in the U.S.A.
Born in the U.S.A., born in the U.S.A.
Born in the U.S.A., I'm a cool rocking daddy in the U.S.A.

Really......I remember a lot of his ***-clown stoned followers burning American flags. Did you see how they also spat on our soldiers when you were following him around the country.

He's not the boss of me! While true, that was a joke. Entertainment wise he's not my cup of tea. I've known plenty of peeps who think he's the ****. I generally don't believe most entertainers are qualified to impact their audiences politically. As far as Free Spreach against America, I think many will follow without thought because they dig the entertainer. That can, at least, have minor impacts at the ballot.

Milo's search for the definition of 'hate speech' is a good thing. Currently it seems to mean anything that offends the left. I'm not allowed to be offended at being called a fascist just because I'm white and respectful of others. Hopefully, more and more minds will realize we're walking in a hypocritical house of mirrors. Don't listen to me; I'm a refugee from the human race even though I didn't choose the EVIL pigmentation. Sorry for expressing my opinion, but privilege brings out the worst in me. Sorry.

Look at the lyrics above (while you are changing your tampon).
The song is about the bad treatment the American soldiers, who fought in Vietnam, received.
I was around in those days.....were you? Where in the song does he condemn those that spat upon our soldiers?

Youngstown, Tom Joad....he's got talent

Man walks along the railroad track
He's Goin' some place, there's no turnin' back
The Highway Patrol chopper comin' up over the ridge
Man sleeps by a campfire under the bridge
The shelter line stretchin' around the corner
Welcome to the new world order
Families sleepin' in their cars out in the Southwest
No job, no home, no peace, no rest, no rest!

And The highway is alive tonight
Nobody's foolin' nobody is to where it goes
I'm sitting down here in the campfire light
Searchin' for the ghost of Tom Joad

He pulls his prayer book out of a sleepin' bag
The preacher lights up a butt and takes a drag
He's waitin' for the time when the last shall be first and the first shall be last
In a cardboard box 'neath the underpass
With a one way ticket to the promised land
With a hole in your belly and a gun in your hand
Lookin' for a pillow of solid rock
Bathin' in the cities' aqueducts

And The highway is alive tonight
Nobody's foolin' nobody is to where it goes
I'm sittin' down here in the campfire light
With the ghost of old Tom Joad

Now Tom said; "Ma, whenever ya see a cop beatin' a guy
Wherever a hungry new born baby cries
Wherever there's a fight against the blood and hatred in the air
Look for me ma'
I'll be there
Wherever somebodies strugglin' for a place to stand
For a decent job or a helpin' hand
Wherever somebody is strugglin' to be free
Look in their eyes ma,
You'll see me!

And the highway is alive tonight
Nobody's foolin' nobody is to where it goes
I'm sittin' down here in the campfire light
With the Ghost of Tom Joad

"In 1984, Bruce Springsteen released Born in the U.S.A. The album became an immediate success, and it eventually became one of the most successful recordings of all time, selling more than 10 million copies. This success of both the album and its eponymous single is frequently attributed to a belief that the song is a pro-American anthem. In reality, it's anything but.

Despite what many have inferred from the title of both the album and its titular track, it is not a celebration of American Exceptionalism, but rather, an indictment of the government, the military-industrial-complex, and the way in which we treat those who have risked their lives in battle.

As a result of this misunderstanding, the song has become the de facto feel-good election season anthem for politicians nationwide."
