Ole Miss doesn't have to follow the same rules as everyone else. They are richer than everyone else and have the Lyceum.

They have 3 national championships........oh wait they don't.......anyway who cares.

Nothing will happen with this. I'm sure they have found some loop hole to let this coat-tail ridding inbred be on the sidelines.

I don't know anything about the rules of who can and can't be on the sidelines, but my guess is the worst thing that could happen would probably be a fine, which would tick Pete Boone off. For all we know, that may be what Nutt is going for.

Also, I know that the Gene's Pagers can now take a vacation from their espionage of our program, because the Hogvillians will put them to shame while Nutt is our coach. Those guys are crazy.

It means we are winning. No one mentioned an NCAA investigation and Ole Miss in the same sentence for about 4-5 years.

that they had background music; hell, ken bournes probably didn't spend as much time doing the civil war documentary. They continue to make this year even better w/ their hatred.

The ol' "they're talking bad about us...we must be winnin'!" reply. I can't speak for everyone on this board, but I guarantee you, if I had the goods...I'd turn Ole Miss' *** in asap...regardless of how much their teams sucked.

Not that I really care one way or the other about this. I doubt it's a big deal.
it's a big soap opera. i followed it a bit, but it gets confusing. a lot of their fans think houston and his brother danny helped that woman write emails to mitch mustain, and then they covered it all up. there were emails uncovered between the woman and her 'partner' where they mentioned danny by name, worried about the police coming and getting danny's computer, and stuff like that. guess some of the fans just can't let it go.

where Danny Nutt was supposed to have been retired and no longer among the designated nine coaches, two graduate assistants and one football ops person allowed around the team in the designated "team area" between the 25 yard lines or the coach's box upstairs.

Here is what I wonder, did this obsessed Razorback do enough research to figure out who our grad assistants and football ops person were at each game?

I honestly don't know what Danny Nutt would qualify as, his title is "Assistant Athletic Director for Player Development", but you'd have to be pretty freaking in depth to know exactly who everyone on our sideline is and then what role they serve. To me, this is still really a waste of this guy's time, but obviously it's important to him.

came to NAFOOM to comment on this story too. I was just wondering why this, as opposed to everything else seems to be what interests you so much.

But it does beg the question of why the hell Nutt thinks he needs more coaches than the NCAA allows. And what the appropriate punishment (if any) should be.

There's a crap ton of baggage/hate that Ark has for Nutt and the family. Nepotism, the Mitch Mustain saga, you name it. Things got very ugly up in Arkansas before Nutt left. I think for Ole Miss, this amounts to not so much, but it does make me wonder what Nutt did/did not learn when things when South in Arkansas. That would mildly concern me if I was a UM fan. That guy was the single most divisive character in the whole state before he left. Believe me.

Hell, Mustain was not good that year, and they had Jones and McFadden. I'm ok with him running almost every down. And we have Austin to balance that out too.

Definitely not arguing what the guy has done on the field at UM. He's done well. I am surprised to see Danny back on the sidelines. I figured he'd play it very straight at UM - at least for a bit.

by FORFEITURE!!

UM should forfeit every game Danny Nutt was on the sideline. It is a clear violation, done knowingly against the rules.

* The NCAA/SEC sent a ruling down Wednesday prohibiting Ole Miss administrative assistant Danny Nutt from being on the Rebel sidelines during games. They ruled Danny is actively coaching and nobody but the head coach, nine assistants and two grad assistants are allowed to "coach" during games. Houston Nutt protested the ruling, stating "Danny is not coaching. He's encouraging players, but not coaching them." Houston Nutt's objections fell on unsympathetic ears, it appears, despite the fact that there are several ex-coaches who roam the sidelines of SEC games at other schools. The other two administrative assistants on Houston's staff - Mike Beaumont and Clifton Ealy - are permitted to be on the sidelines, as well as any administrative assistants in the conference. Danny Nutt was singled out. It appears the pseudo-campaign some disgruntled Razorbacks waged against Danny and the Nutts got a response. A pure case of vindictiveness and a fishing expedition by Arkansas that got a bite. Sad deal.

had Houston not pulled the stunt with Danny coaching from the press box last year, no one would've said a damn thing.

EVERY school in the SEC has twenty to forty of these types every year. So get over it!

Also EVERY school in the US has strength coaches and staff assistants, etc. on the sidelines. Danny doesn't "coach", but he does get up front and cheer. It's been handled and was only a minor violation. No biggie!
