I'm plenty satisfied, I've watched us win 5 National Title games and play for 4 more.
If grovelling to the ******* big 10 ten runner up is satisfying, than you've never had standards.18 years ago for the last NC and we've been irrelevant ever since. If that's satisfying then our standards have really dropped.
OP--Iowa will be favored to win the West next year what a Lame post.
Ferentz's history-2nd all time in B1G history Coach of the year award only Shembechler has more ..FOUR teams in the top 10 since 2000 with almost no 4* playersLook at Ferentz's history. When expectations are low for his team, they bust out a good or great year. When expectations are high for his team, they fall flat on their faces. They may be favored to win the west next year, but if past results have shown us anything, they will have a putrid season.

Cheer up BRP better times ahead! Oh and it was still plenty sweet watching the iowegeans go down!
You know what they say...favored is one thing...actually following through is another.
GO BIG RED
After all the success I've witnessed since starting to follow Husker football in 1969 (5 National Titles and 4 more losses in Title Games) I could die tomorrow and be a satisfied fan. As far as I'm concerned any success in the future is just gravy.
Nebraska was also favored to win 8 or 9 games this year. I agree they will probably be favored. I also think Iowa had one of those years that only comes around once every 15 to 20 years. They combined some average players, with a bit of luck, good fortune and heart. A formula like that has to come together perfectly to achieve what they did this year. I don't see all of it falling into place again next year. Not saying they will have a losing record but will not go undefeated. Probably 3-4 loss team.Iowa and their fans have nothing to be ashamed of. This has been a great season and they will be favored to win the west next year.

How do you explain Iowa finishing in the top ten of the final rankings for 3 straight years under Ferentz? That directly contradicts your point.
Off season?!?! We have a bowl game first then you can enjoy the off season :OAfter all the success I've witnessed since starting to follow Husker football in 1969 (5 National Titles and 4 more losses in Title Games) I could die tomorrow and be a satisfied fan. I almost feel guilty that I was able to enjoy as much success as I did. I was definitely born at just the right time. In a strange way, I'm almost glad that the Huskers have struggled for awhile because if we ever reach the pinnacle again, it will be more meaningful then if we had just kept winning decade after decade (i.e. the title in 1997 wasn't nearly as enjoyable as the title in 1970).
Oh and I will enjoy the offseason...

Dude you are so right, I was way of base on that one. His record is a perfect example of consistent success.
Boy deduction is not your strength. The implication was that after a good year, Iowa does not follow up with a good record due to the newfound hype. I noted that they had a string of three straight top ten years. They certainly met expectations did they not? Of course there are unexpected successful years and really disappointing seasons (2010 comes to mind), but if Iowa followed up 2015 with another successful season it would not be the first time this has happened under Ferentz. So no, actually, Iowa doesn't always "fall flat on their asses" when there are high expectations.

I think you should look at 2005 (the end of that 3 year run you pointed out) to 2015. He's consistent for sure, for the most part he and his team are consistently mediocre.
Speaking from experience? I wish the Iowa Neb game was played in Lincoln every year.
