Sucks for him, but could be good fo the Braves. They can now get Brooks Conrad in and at least know he will be a every day guy and not be hurt every other week.

probably can't recover any insurance money on him (same injury as he had in '94, so likely excluded on ins coverage), no prospects in the minors, only a LH hitting career minor leaguer or a RH utility guy to take his place.

this means a platoon of Conrad and Infante. if there's any RH hitting 3B available on waivers, say hello, no matter how overpriced.

So if Chipper is out, do putin Conrad full time or move Prado (When He Returns) to third and leave Infante at 2nd. Two week ago, I would have said losing Chipper was not that big a deal, but he has been hitting as of late.

Hinske would replace him at first, and Hinske can play 3rd too. So you'd probably rather just play Hinske at 3rd. Or, fora LHpitcher, you could put Glaus at 3rd, Prado at 1st, and Infante at 2nd. But you could just as easily put Prado and Infante at 2B/3B and leave Glaus at 1B, which i imagine would be better defensively.

.....supposedly he's better defensively there than Infante, who is defensively better at 2B than 3B.

Conrad will get plenty of starts against righties. But lefties have been our problem.

Wes Helms (now with Florida, used to be a Brave) is a likely solution. Chone Figgins maybe, but i don't see the value, we need power not a leadoff hitter. Aramis Ramirez maybe, if the Braves scouts think his bad year is flukey.

They say it's a torn, but not completely torn, ACL that requires surgery. An ACL that is not completely torn doesn't require surgery at all. Mine was hanging by a thread, came back fine with no surgery. Is it because his has been replaced from his '94 complete tear?

Anyway, they're saying 6 months to recover. Puts him right in line for spring training. Tough call for him to make, I think we might have a Favre situation on our hands.
