I always get a mild amount of amusement when people switch commitments, and then their change of heart results in them going to somewhere like Natchitoches, Louisiana.

I would have gone to a juco for a year and then try to latch on to a better school. I guess he figured he was headed somewhere like that eventually so might as well go now.

He sent a friend of mine to Peru. He sent Garrett to Natchitoches, LA. I think my friend got the better deal.

The depth chart isn't favorable to him at MSU and he'd have to walk on. I don't blame him one bit for not coming to MSU.

He really should've gone to Juco for 1 semester and transferred in January 2011 to a school that recruited and needed him.

when you are a QB and you lose your schollie in the manner that he did (even at a place like lsu), you need to goto a smaller division of football. Unless lsu has four or five Peyton Mannings on their roster, getting cut sayssomething about your abilities. Add that to the fact that we run a spread option, Garrett wasnever going to come to MSU.This one worked out well for us in the longrun.

That is just it.....I don't anyone wanted him or needed him and that is why he is going to NW State. Mississippi needed him, and he even visited, but I suppose he really wasn't that interested in playing in the SEC.

went well according to reports; but evidently not well enough for Houston Nutt to try and find a scholly for him. The kid never should have screwed the pooch on State.

that apparently is at best a 1-AA talent. No point in having a QB on the roster that's not really SEC caliber and that is exactly what we would have had had Garrett stuck to his word and signed with us. Now granted we've certainly had non-SEC caliber QBs in the past so it definitely would have been nothing new.

It's damn hard to lose your scholarship before your redshirt freshman season unless you're a complete <17>up or you just suck. And nobody has ever even hinted that Garrett was a <17>up. I hope he does well in I-AA.

He'd have never seen the field for us, but we would have never cut him. But if he ever wants to actually play college football, as opposed to just being on a team, this is probably best for him.

Not so fast. Peru is trying to stop a recent outbreak of the bubonic plague. Maybe NW State isn't so bad after all.
