They burned too many bridges and are embarrassed that things didn't work out in Baton Rouge. For them to be as pro-MSU and go to Ole Miss tells me all that I need to know about them. Plus with Nutt working with Garrett vs Mullen???

but I think it's also the fact that he'll never start at MSU. What he should have done is go to MSU, grayshirt, and then he could start by his sixth year. I'm not saying that he couldn't beat out Tyler- although, well, OK, he couldn't beat out Tyler Russell. But now that Tyler is starting his second season here, Chris would be way behind the eight ball to start with.

Plus, Ole Miss probably needs him more than us, and it wouldn't be a major PR snafu, and Garrett fits their offense better. Makes more sense to me than going to LSU, or actually coming to MSU.

prefers a mobile QB, but claims that he can adjust to a pocket passer. Tyler is a pocket passer who can move a little bit. Garrett is a pocket passer who's feet are stuck in concrete. Garrett is just not destined to play at MSU. He can go play for Nutt, who's offense basically asks for the QB to throw it up to a stud WR if one is available and let him go get it.

When he was being recruited everyone said that he was overrated, even some MSU fans while he was committed to MSU.

I bet you Garrett walks on where ever he goes, or goes Division II.

I would rather have Garrett than a guy that plays intramurals, but I don't think he is a factor one way or the other. He is a horrible fit for Mullen's offense, and Im not surprised that he hasn't tried to even walk on at MSU.</p>

that said he was anywhere near as good as he was hyped up to be. That includes both UM and MSU fans, and as you say, has been consistent before he committed to MSU, while he was committed to MSU, and after he committed to and signed with LSU. It's kind of hard to lose your scholarship in just 1 year if you're not a 17-up. And that's one thing I don't think anyone thinks Garrett is.

who was lacking in the phyical aspect department. Ole Miss put him in the shotgun, and he thrived. If he had a stronger arm and could run a little, he would have at least gotten a look in the NFL as a free agent.

I'm not sure that Garrett will be as good as Patridge.

By saying he was only allowed to go to MSU, does that just mean getting a scholarship? So he is free to walk on at any SEC school as long as he is not a scholarship player. Am I understanding it correctly?

He can transfer anywhere he wants to, but he has to pay his own way for 1 year if he transfers within the SEC except to MSU. I doubt 1 year of in-state tuition would be a problem in this case though.

Jefferson threw for more TD's last season than anybody in our school's history against only 7 INT's...17-7....we can only hope for it to get "that bad" in Starkville

and still are. There in lies the similarities with the Garrett's; and as you also recall he broke our heart in Starkville on that two point conversion to Cory Peterson that I still have nightmares about, I don't want Chris pulling anything like that, the truth is he fits the UM system a whole lot better than he fits ours.

.they are not embarrassed, Les Miles is a coach that is too afraid to take the heat and throws his players under the bus which is what he did with Garrett. He told certain media that Garrett said he was afraid to play when he was aked why Garrett wasnt getting the reps everyone in tigerland thought he should, which Garrett never said. Also dont forget the Garretts have a son that goes to MSU and I have seen Chris and his brother drew hanging out on the town. And we all know tyler russel is going to be a bust. Garrett is twice as good as russel and a lot better football iq. And pat i have seen the kid play multiple times and hes incredible better than any other quarterback in the state from what ive seen. I really am shocked we arent goin after him again. If we want to win it would be nice to have a QB over six feet tall with a cannon and accuracy. We dont have that at all on our roster right now.

From your description, he sounds like John Elway. If he doens't go to MSU or Ole Miss, I expect him to end up at a small D-1 school or a lower division school. It's not like Florida and Texas are breaking down the doors to get to him. He's a pretty good talent and we'll see what happens with him. I'd like to take him, but to say that Russell is a bust without him taking a single snap is ridiculous. It basically nullifies anything that you said in that post. If you aren't Chris garrett or his father/family, you are too close to them to be critical and taken seriously. It's ok to say that you know someone and be friends with them and not think of them as an All-American type of player. It doesn't mean that you are a bad friend. You aren't close to the family because you sit 3 rows behind them on church and only speak to them when you back into their car. There are too many people that get butt hurt when someone is critical of an athlete when they are friends with them. Be critical. It's ok.

that was by far the stupidest and most idiotic **** I've read so far this year. There's a reason people aren't knocking on Mr. Garrett's door and it is not because they are afraid of the recruiting battle that would ensue.

Bumphis was. Garrett has a big arm and little accuracy: he was greatly helped by WRs like Bumphis being able to make him look better than he was. He is not, was not or ever will be as good as Tyler Russell and apparently was going to be fourth string at LSU at best. This is why he needs to swallow his pride and be a QB at Delta State or Samford, where he can truly compete and quit letting his dad live vicariously through him.
