For anyone who subscribes to Scout: do yourself a favor and watch the latest Chris Jones highlight tape vs Ackerman. Damn, talk about a future stud. He's got the size, speed, and frame to be a star. Jones is easily the most underrated high school player that I've seen this year.

Wow!! Only a 3 Star huh? Must be the same evaluators that made Keihl Frazier a 5 star. Pretty sure this video may have showed most every Ackerman snap for the night. He completely took over the game it appears.
On another note, when you listen to Bo Bounds and you hear the college football matrix guy talking about recruiting stars, and then you hear Bo picking Auburn over us because of recruiting stars, this video is another piece of the puzzle in confirming that, due to rawer players playing in smaller towns, Mississippi is just a different animal when it comes to assigning stars to a player. If Chris Jones was from Alabama or Georgia he would probably be at least a 4 star. Kids from Mississippi just are not as far along in their development as kids from those states, and thus need a redshirt year. When comparing Mississippi State to other SEC schools, recruiting rankings just don't mean as much and hold little credence in predicting the outcome of games. Auburn didn't have more talent than us yesterday, yet the recruiting people would make you think that they were an NFL team and we were a high school team.
Many people will say that they do that just to sell more subscriptions, but I am not sure I agree with that. I literally think that, due to how raw and little known some of the players are here, the evaluation process is just much much more difficult. Not blaming the recruiting people because I am not sure how they fix it. I am blaming idiots that are trying to predict games on the basis of recruiting rankings. At least not when players are from Mississippi.
