This is what it all comes down to right here....

It all makes you wonder if we would even be having this conversation if this were one of the bluebloods in the SEC, say Alabama, Florida, Georgia or LSU, and they had the same résumé as Mississippi State. But it’s not one of the bluebloods.

Good article. Not by that TSUN homer @ ESPN.

LawGADawg should read it and the quotes about the criteria of the committee.

The comments are ridiculous. I can't believe people are actually that stupid.

People prove stupidity to me EVERY day. I have very little faith in humanity

at this point.

Arkansas Coach said the the BYE on on the SEC West schedule is ranked #7. Pretty funny statement.

Somehow, it’s difficult to imagine a scenario where Mississippi State would be a top-four team every week until the very last poll -- the only one that counts.
THIS.

This garbage about how our schedule isn't strong because we only beat one top 25 team is getting on my nerves. There are only a couple of SEC West teams ranked because they are cannibalizing themselves. If LSU played in the BIG, they would be ranked in the top 10 because they would beat ****** teams like Iowa, Illinois, Penn State, Maryland, Michigan, Indiana and Northwestern. Hell, they'd probably be fighting for a playoff spot. They already beat Wisconsin, the second place team in the conference right now on a neutral field. The strength of the SEC West and the fact there are no bad teams shouldn't be held against us because teams in other conferences (Ohio State) are fattening up on bad teams in their conference and getting ranked highly because of that.

Well said. Infuriates the hell out of me knowing all of this and yet these talking heads all just justify at why it's Ohio state is about and needs to jump Miss St. I just hope and pray the committee sees all of this. Like Lowe said it would be pretty 17ed up to be in the up 4 all along and then be jumped on the last/ final and only poll that matters. To a team we know we'd beat the ever living **** out of.

Finally got to watch the Vandy game all the way through, and the announcers credited Dan Mullen with saying that he expects a conference champion to take the 4th spot. That's the first I've heard of that, but if our HC feels that way, it gives me less hope that logic and reason will keep an 11-1 State at #4.

As a long suffering MSU fan I would fully expect for us to get the shaft.

As a lifelong state fan, how many times have we been screwed over when we were 11-1? Point being this is a once in a lifetime type state team, so throw out our history this year

I'd say FIRST in a lifetime. I really feel like this is the beginning of an upward trend for State.

"Top 25" is convenient THIS week because LSU and Ark are AP #26&27.***

If Arkansas beats Missouri and LSU beats A&M, then they will both be in the Top 25 and the doubters will have to find another excuse.

Of course, we will have knocked Ole Miss out of the Top 25, so that will be one less Top25 win.

I've got to think that if Dan actually said that, every talking head in the media would be quoting him as having said it and using it as even more venom against our position as #4.

Not criticizing you but this is an attitude State needs to eliminate...we DO belong in this situation and can dn well sure do it again in the future. When you have solid and healthy leadership anything is possible.

Lowe answered his own question on Nashville sports radio today, saying definitively that if it was Alabama with our record, they would be still ranked number one. He spent a lot of air time defending us.

Of the five teams we've played or will play (UM) that are or were ranked:
LSU
Auburn
A&M
Alabama
Ole Miss
They have a total of 15 losses. 2 of those were to non-division teams (Aub to GA and A&M to Mizz). 2 were to Arkansas. The other 11 were all to each other (3 to us obviously).
