"and we'd be leading the SEC in rushing instead of 3rd"
We are only 4 yards a game behind the Bears, and they have entered the tough part of their schedule which will have their total fall. We will surpass them Saturday for 2nd...and even with 2009 Dixon, we wouldnt be #1- Auburn averages 284 yards a game on the ground.
As we have obviously seen, we needed to run Ballard more against Auburn and we would have won that game. Throwing 33 passes against Auburn lost that game- not having Dixon in the backfield.
a good quote from March kinda sums this all up-
"The problem, I think, is that you have couched this prediction behind the phrase "we won't miss Dixon." That not only hits people sentimentally, it is also impossible to quantify. If Conner, Elliott, and Ballard combine for 3,000 yards rushing next season, you would say, "See, we didn't miss Dixon", whereas the Dixon fans would argue that with him in the mix they could have rushed for 3,500 so he was missed."- Dawgzilla
If you let go of the sentimental aspect, it's easy to see he has been replaced more than adequately by Ralph and Ballard
Say what you want about Fla- coming into the game they were only giving up 118 yards/game rushing...Bama only rushed for 170 against them. And they spent the entire 2nd half running the ball to ice the game away. We lined up and ran it right at them play after play. We couldnt do that last year with Dixon.
Georgia is 4th in the SEC in rush defense- 103/game- how did we fare against them?
The argument was would we be able to get that production this season like he did last year- and the answer is a clear yes. Let go of the sentimentality and admit that Ballard is doing the job.
