Chris Maloney's team

the Memphis Redbirds just lost the AAA Championship.

Still had a great year though- won the Pacific Coast League Championship.

Maloney, for those who don't know- is MSU's Wally Pipp. He was a first baseman for us and was replaced by some guy named Will Clark.

And yes, he is related to Con Maloney who owned the Jackson Mets/Generals/Senators.

he was a State guy. You definitely would never hear that on the Memphis news.

I have followed his managing stints and he has done well at each level. He has been in Memphis the last few years. He was in New Orleans before that. Sure wish someone would give him a chance at the major league level.

He was not a first baseman when I was there. He mostly worked out at third. He made that move after I left.

He is one of the funniest "locker room" guys I ever knew. He always was fun to be around. Too many stories that can't be told.

By the way Con Maloney is his father.

at least get a World Series ring in 2006 with the Cardinals when he helped them as a coach in after the AAA season was over.

But, I agree- I would like to see Chris get a shot with someone in the Big Leagues.
