Thank you.

I am sorry, but I really think that any other way of thinking about this is small minded.

Gold helmet no - Chrome yes.

Anything to give the players a little something extra to be excited about.

I love them but not the sticker. Don't use a sticker. Make it a different chrome shade for the MState.

So no one thinks that's just a little over the line? Recruits aren't guaranteed to like every alternate uni you know... it is possible to have an alternate uni that is not likeable which, in this case, definitely is. Alternate unis should look cool and "badass"..not gawdy, tacky and 1970's florida.

Oregon recruits disagree.

I think it would've been cool had they come out wearing regular helmets for pregame and wore these coming out of the tunnel. We could've all seen them at once and team would've been more hyped and pumped up about it.

I like it ... looks sharp. Looks a lot better than the black unis from a year or two ago.

It's 17'n badass but it's not for the fans

It's for the players, recruits, and for branding. We're gonna be on national television. Twitter and social media will probably blow up about the helmets. I bet since the non MSU fan watching has no ties to our traditional colors, they will think they are badass as well.

Our players r gone b turn't uppppp!!!

the world will TMZ think!?!?11?

The point is to get your brand out there and people talking about Miss St. If we win it'll help even more. I think the general public think its cool especially since it's The Battle for the GOLDEN Egg.

Well, they sure as hell didn't work last year. It'll just add on to the trash talk if we lose. "Herka derka, yall get all excited n' stuff for the Egg Bowl and treat it like it's y'alls Super Bowl!! Durr Durr!! Makin' special uniforms!!1! We don't have to do that! We aim higher and don't care about MSU!! Y'all just look stoopid gettin ur *** beat!11!!! durr durr!11!1"

That's pretty much it...

The first year we wore special uniforms was in 2011 and wed beat the **** outta them.

missed the sarcasm.

No I got it, that's why I wasn't referring to TMZ specifically. I was just elaborating more on my main point(s) that it's for the players to get turn't up, the recruits, and for brand exposure. People just need to embrace it. If we won every time in special uniforms no one would care and if special uniforms embarrass you, then you're worrying too much. Special uniforms are common in college football now. People need to get used to it. I'm not talking to you about being embarrassed Kurt, speaking to other masses who claim it will embarrass them. The Golden Chrome Helmets is an original idea. I'll go on record to say that college football fans overall will like them and it'll be evident by trending on twitter.

That is Oregon's brand. We are just copy cats. Let's just be us.

You think we are copying Oregon for wearing gold helmets with a shiny chrome finish? That's ridiculous. We're wearing gold because we're playing for the Golden Egg and building off of our previous Egg Bowl unis with gold accents. Oregon actually wore Silver helmets with a chrome finish, and I don't think silver is part of their school colors or has anything to do with the Rose Bowl. We're being original with the color selection, and the color fits with the theme of the game in a way. Oregon wasn't the first to think of shiny helmets. They were just the first to do it. I don't consider that copying them.

I might be using chrome wrong btw. I think Chrome is a finish not a color. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Bottom line here is that people will always find something to complain about, and being that we all come from an extremely conservative state that hates any type of change, this is not surprising. People need to get with the 21st century. Mississippi as a state certainly is not and that's sad how far behind it is. I'm glad I don't live in MS anymore, and I was born and raised there. I have lived there 20 outta the almost 25 years I've lived on this earth and got my degree from MSU. The only thing I miss is the nice people, family, and the food. Overall the state is so far behind every other state. It's sad to see it, bc I love MS, but I'm sad of what it has become. I can't believe a Golden Helmet debate went to me getting on this soap box.

Anyway, even if you don't like the helmet cause it's not traditional, learn to embrace it because the people that actually account for Ws and Ls like it. Those people are the coaches, players, and recruits. I know boosters donate, yada yada yada, but we're not going there. A helmet or special uniform isn't going to cause ppl to stop donating. If it did, then my soap box would be proven true for MSU athletics and that would be a sad day. We're not that dumb tho.

I usually just kick them in the balls and give a karate chop to the throat at that point. Makes ME feel better.

Seriously, that kind of busch league trash talk just wouldn't make it any worse than the loss itself to me.

What I would ask myself is, how many recruits DON'T like it? What kind of players does this attract? How many fans are embarrassed of it? I certainly am and would have second thoughts about going to play for a school that has such a low self esteem that they resort to dressing like ghetto welfare queens to garner attention. Last year's atrocious uniforms and this helmet smack of utter lack of self respect and despicable self aggrandizement. I hate them and if these are added to the last year's jerseys, we deserve to lose in an embarrassing fashion. Losing would fit well with our trailer trash costume. What a laughing stock. Every person with an ounce of modesty and prudence in them will laugh at us. The fact that some people justify it is even more shameful. What an embarrassment.

People need to get with the 21st century. Mississippi as a state certainly is not and that's sad how far behind it is and our team is 5-7... and I'm glad I don't live in MS anymore, and I was born and raised there. I have lived there 20 outta the almost 25 years I've lived on this earth and got my degree from MSU. The only thing I miss is the nice people, family, and the food. Overall the state is so far behind every other state and our team is near the bottom in ranking and we are in Dan Mullen's fifth year. It's sad to see it, bc I love MS, but I'm sad of what it has become and that our team cant seem to get it together. I can't believe a Golden Helmet debate went to me getting on this soap box.

You make it sound like we suck as a team and as a state but if we wear this shiny helmut , other people will think we are good ?

I am having trouble reading you

im not a huge fan. opposing chrome on chrome would look better...ie the oregon helmets:

it looks half-way done to me. the sticker looks like an afterthought.

Where does the MSU sticker go ? Are they going to use that new bulldog stencil too? It looks like a bulldawg dragon to me.
I like it ,, maybe we can change the name of the mascot to Smaug .

No, what I'm saying is we need to embrace the change. Every school in the country wears special uniforms except a few (Alabama, Penn St). Hell, even NIU was wearing some glossy helmets and special uniforms when they played Western Kentucky who was also wearing special uniforms. TENN has worn those smokey unis, SCar has some army themed unis, ARK has been wearing differ unis,Ole Miss has done a few things differ to theirs...the point is it is the way college football is going, and we don't need to be left behind like our state has been.

Lack of self respect? Ghetto? What if a few recruits don't like it? I don't know where to begin, but I dunno if anything I say can help you based on the logic you presented in your argument. I'll say this, bud. I didn't even know about the helmet until one of my die-hard UNC fans texted me and asked me if I had seen them and told me they were badass. That's interesting. I won't comment on lack of self respect apparently MSU and most programs across the country have for themselves since most schools wear special unis a couple times a year. Recruits do like them, so get over it. I'm sure outta the 50,000 HS prospects across the country, one won't like them, but the OVERWHELMING majority love them. If special unis weren't popular with recruits, we wouldn't wear them. Don't you think our coaches, marketing, and athletic department people get feedback on special unis from the people that matter? These people that matter, like I said in this thread already, are recruits and players. They like it. Get over it. It gets them turn't up. That means fired up since you probably don't know that because you're stuck in 2004 Russell brand Larry Templeton type athletics run behavior. I sure hope you aren't in charge of something with an ever changing dynamic or you will fail. Everyone will laugh at us, huh? Go 17 yourself dude and your 5 posts. You're terrible.
