Dragon's right about a couple of things:

1. I am old (implied, but let's call a spade a spade)

2. I do not understand modern wrestling nor their weirdo . . . ERRRR . . . sicko fans.

Apparently Dirty Boxing combines MMA with traditional boxing.

Really enjoyed the last segment of Dynamite with Hangman as "Pony Schiavone."

Early reports say Wrestle Dream did around 115-120 thousand buys.
I thought that segment was clunky, poorly rehearsed/executed up until Hangman popped up in the ring, and too drawn out.

BUT the payoff was quite good.

Hangman looked just like Tony Schiavone, wardrobe/makeup crew did a tremendous job there!

Alvarez is also a dumbass. Ain't no one stopping people from watching AEW. I sure as **** wish he would stop watching wrestling entirely though given how he seemingly hates everything he watches and puts such little effort into his job he half the time can barely get basic facts correct about what happened on tv the night before even when it is very clearly and explicitly stated and explained during the show.

Meanwhile New Japan is still running USA shows for some godforsaken reason. Unless they book something crazy, which at this point I don't think is even really possible unless they book a massive AEW vs. AEW matchup, I wouldn't be surprised to see this draw worse than that ROH show that ran there in 2023. Most of their Japanese talent don't want to do them anymore and the ones that do pretty often put in a half assed effort.

Their USA efforts have been cursed ever since COVID hit but they can't seem to get a clue. NJPW is about as dead of a brand in America as it can be. Hardcore New Japan lifer fans here in the west don't even really even give a **** about the product anymore.

Blood and Guts not going to be two rings anymore? lol at the decision to run this in Greensboro Coliseum. Was always a dumb decision and the ticket sales are proving it. Unless there is a big surge in ticket sales, they are going to need to paper this heavily to have it looking decent on TV.

Meanwhile, some of these tickets for Smackdown are looking ghastly. Raw advances are still looking good to decent but Smackdown is going down the drain fast.

Who would be your picks for the below for 2025? I figure at this point most of us probably wouldn't change our minds at this point or would at least have it pretty narrowed down.

Men's Tag Team of the Year

Women's Tag Team of the Year

Men's in-Ring Wrestler of the Year - meaning evaluating based ONLY on matches

Women's in-Ring Wrestler of the Year

Men's Overall Performer of the Year - meaning evaluating based on all kayfabe stuff like matches, character work, promos, etc.

Women's Overall Performer of the Year

Men's Tag Team - Brodido or Young Bucks, truly a coin flip for me right now

Women's Tag Team - Pass.

Men's In Ring - either Bandido or Takeshita, leaning Bandido though. Could easily flip to Takeshita if he is in the Continental Classic (which I assume is the plan because Takeshita vs. Okada story) while Bandido is not. That's going to be a real nice resume padder for them.

Women's In Ring - Mercedes More or Saya Kamitani (Stardom wrestler), also a coin flip. Kamitani's resume on paper is probably better but I need to see more of her matches to make an official determination

Men's Overall - Hangman

Women's Overall - Toni Storm

Also, he’s a dipshit that skips entrances so he misses a lot of backstory because he’s lazy and can’t even be bothered to watch the whole shows he is paid to cover. Maybe if he’d actually watch and pay attention instead of skipping and doom scrolling On social media during the shows he’d be able to comprehend the basics of AEW stories.

Men’s Tag—Hurt Syndicate

Women’s Tag —I guess it has to be Bliss and Flair.

Men’s In Ring—Bandito but Takeshita is my early pick for next year.

Women’s In Ring—probably Iyo for the Ripley matches alone.

Men’s Overall—Hangman’s Swerve feud match plus winning the belt probably give him my vote but although I think he’s cheesy, Cody has had a really good year as well.

Women’s overall—Toni Storm.

Hurt Syndicate is a good choice. They have the edge over Brodido for the non-match stuff, but Brodido have had the much better matches overall, in my opinion. Can't go wrong with either pick though.

Charlotte/Alexa is probably the choice too because someone has to win it. I can't even argue some Joshi tag team because I haven't seen any Joshi tag team matches. I'm hoping the AEW women's tag division is given proper treatment so the state of women's tag wrestling in America isn't so dire. Though to be fair to WWE here, injuries/pregnancy in WWE with Belair, Naomi, and Liv Morgan have screwed up plans, though I think with the talent they have between main roster and NXT, there should be plenty enough talent to go around to have a competently run women's tag division even with the loss of those three.

Otherwise good picks, though I am surprised by the Cena picks.

As far as Cena goes, I'm wondering what your rationale is for picking him for both awards? Because it seems at least three of his 14 matches were broadly considered pretty bad (WrestleMania, Wrestlepalooza, SNME vs. R Truth) and most people consider his heel run to have been a complete flop. Not trying to say your pick is wrong or stupid by any means, so don't think I'm saying that lol! I'm just surprised is all given the discussion surrounding his retirement run wouldn't lead me to think people would be picking him for either award.

I think we will look back and say 2025 was the year that Cena won belt 17.

the failed heel run wasn’t his fault - the rock and Travis Scott screwed any potential out of it

his mic work with punk was awesome and his second Cody and recent match with aj were great

So two matches is enough for you to name someone the best in-ring wrestler of the year? Did you watch anyone else in WWE this year outside of their Cena matches? Say like Gunther, Cody, Zayn, Punk, Rollins?
