I bet the main reason they made the Hobbs-Hangman match falls count anywhere is so that the ring crew can use the majority of that match to clean the ring and ringside area lol
That’s clever. I didn’t even think of that. I guess that is why they are doing the backstage thing right now as well.

Though I do somewhat wish this was a regular match just because of the dynamics of being able to work with two rings. We only get a two-ring setup once a year, there’s a lot of stuff you try that you can’t do any other time.

And with AEW having an extended apron section because of the cage that gives them more space to do stuff there too.

KOR bleeding the most in the men’s match was not on my bingo card.

The women’s match was better overall but the closing stretch for the men’s was superb. All that IN-RING story telling over the last few weeks with Moxley’s matches came to a head tonight.

Somebody needs to help me understand the storyline/booking. Why does Mox tap out to an ankle lock in a match like that? This is twice in the last month he's quit in a match. 3 times since the summer(?) Why have this wild, dangerous, deathmatch-loving gimmick if you keep submitting? I'm sure there's a reason. Love to hear it.

The women's match was awkward, clumsy, and slow. Kudos to the girls for showing off their "art" and "willingness," but it was a mess. The ending was better than the men's, though. That finish made sense from a storytelling aspect.

Kyle-O looked like Carrie after she got the bucket of blood dumped on her. I'll bet the Turner execs who bothered to watch were probably a little uncomfortable. The match itself was fine, but the ending makes no sense to me until someone explains the reasoning.

I remember when I was a kid I used to go to a place called Guntown Mountain in Cave City. During various parts of the day, they would have an stunt man show where these guys would get tossed out of windows or thrown through saloon doors or whatever. That's what the Hangman/Hobbs match reminded me of. Guys got in a couple of their stunts and then went to the back for a cigarette. Decent time-filler.

I do t have time to type it all but Mox started his group to teach the younger aew wrestlers about being tough as all get out. Remember when he beat Yuta to death in a couple matches when Yuta was trying to prove he could be tough and belonged? They took Danielson out because he was getting soft and lost that edge.

Now Mox has quit multiple times this year. Everyone is waiting on his crew to turn on him and cast him out as he’s no longer the guy they started following and like Danielson needs to be taken out.

In a quick nutshell.

Because the story of dictators/authoritarians like Moxley is when everything starts falling apart around them their weakness is exposed and they self sabotage. Eventually people who were brainwashed realize the person is a fraud/liar/conman/crook/swindler and they get taken out or overthrown.

The Turner execs approve of this stuff. TK has weekly meeting with them going over all this stuff.

I get it. But it seems like that keeps Mox a heel and turns everyone else face? Maybe that's where they're headed? I just assumed it would be Mox going face. Maybe he teams up with MJF when he returns and they form a conniving snake-oil heel faction?

Also, not so much as scratch or small puncture on our boy Claudio last night. He must have a strict "no blood" clause.

Brutalize him and send him away for a while. Keep someone major like Moxley off tv long enough and they’ll get a babyface reaction on return just because people are excited to have him back.*

Especially if say you do something like have Eddie Kingston feuding with Claudio and you have Moxley come back to save Eddie - Eddie a fan favorite, Moxley-Eddie friendship well documented in AEW kayfabe, etc.

*One major exception in AEW would be Jericho, no one really wants him back. Even got people largely not even bothering to go after Jericho for those anti-AEW/pro-TNA comments because it seemingly solidifies Jericho leaving

Apparently Jericho edited out those comments about TNA/AEW from the recorded show. TK must have gotten on the phone and told him to cut the crap while he’s still under contract.

Fightful reporting Joe Hendry has been signed with WWE for a while. His TNA contract ran thru the end of the year, so I guess WWE bought it out.

For those that might be interested Dynamite did 600,000 viewers and a .15 in the demo. Guess that's not too bad considering the "new" way the ratings work.

So if I'm not mistaken TNA had Santana win the title three months later than he should have, didn't do any TV for a month and then lost in his first defense.

Watched the men's match and didn't think it was too bad. I know they used two rings but doing all that in front of 5,000 feels a bit lackluster. You just expect more for a pretty well promoted special event spectacle. They'll probably get 3,000 for Boston this week so, back to normal. Just makes you wonder how differently things could've been if Vince were still in charge and Punk and Cody were happy in AEW. Dynamite outdrawing Raw doesn't sound impossible in that scenario.

Quote this if the reverse happens but once I saw the photo of Jericho somewhat shredded and not bloated a couple months back, I knew he was headed "home." AEW was a payday and a vacation for him.

I'll never stop watching WWE completely but this is as stale as the product has been under HHH. Buddy and I were laughing how they just got a bunch of women in one place, one of them yelled the phrase 'War Games', and there's your match. Okay then. And yet, 35,000+ will be at Survivor Series in San Diego. Last years in Vancouver was 17,000+ (according to Wrestletix). Stuff like that is why you won't see any spontaneous crazy things happening. WWE is still doing the equivalent of several All In's per year.

Ticket sales for both Raw and Smckdown are on a general downward trend, though Smackdown is worse. If WWE keeps up the boring booking with insanely high ticket prices, then both WWE and AEW are going to become seemingly PPV only for a lot of fans as far as buying a ticket goes.

Economy isn't going to be doing either any favors as well.

AEW is hiring someone new for live events marketing. Hopefully this person is better capable of doing the job because whoever previously was in the role was abysmal.

Meanwhile Maya World and Hyan got a decently long (it went thru a commercial break), competitive tag match against Riho and Alex Windsor.

Given the length of the match, and the fact they also got a competitive match in ROH against Athena and Billie Starkz this week, I imagine they'll be getting signed any day now if not already.

All Newell and Alize had to do was not be stupid.

Damn TNA kicked out Jacob Cohen from their tv taping tonight, he’s been going to TNA shows for years at his own expense reporting on the matches without giving away any spoilers.

Wrestle Kingdom had sold out 7 weeks in advance. They will be opening more seats, so I guess that means limited/obstructed view seats and perhaps temporary seats on the field? If I remember correctly they usually don’t have much seating on the field except for the ringside section.

Yeah, like I'm not expecting to suddenly see 8k or 9k at a random Dynamite in Nov but if Blood & Guts was a PPV instead, maybe. Their online poster art for everything is killer though.

Also may need to backtrack on my comments to the poster who mentioned a ticket downturn next year for WWE without Cena. I mean, it won't be at AEW levels but it could be noticeable for sure. I'm really interested to see how SD in Louisville does. It's the day before Elimination Chamber in Chicago so everyone, including Punk and Cody, should be at Yum. If they only get like 6k or 7k for that, I dunno, seems like a yikes to me.
