Some good McMahon family news for once. I’ve heard this movie is supposed to be one of the best of the year actually. I immediately added it to my to watch list when I saw a trailer a week or two ago.

Think my favorite thing about Dave recently is his "this match wasn't for me. It has a specific niche audience that likes that kinda thing. Again, I had issues with it and it wasn't for me. Five stars." rationale. He cultivated an audience that loves something he sometimes doesn't love but he's afraid to be honest in his opinion and rating because he doesn't want to upset the audience he created. It's poetic or something.

Full Gear predictions

Preshow
  • CMLL World Trios titles - Sky Team defeats Don Callis Family as Takeshita completes the turn on Okada and the DCF
  • Other three matches don't matter so not bothering with it, though I will say it's nice that there isn't an obvious winner in the four-way tag match, but that's because there's near zero build for the match.
Main card
  • Moxley vs. O'Reilly, no holds barred - why wasn't this a submission match instead when there was already a no DQ match on the card? A submissions match would have made sense with the story. But anyway, going with KOR here.
  • Darby vs. PAC - PAC as it will further set up the Death Riders story.
  • $1M Six Man tag match - Jurassic Express and Kenny Omega. Bucks turn on DCF and save Kenny Omega after the match to move into the next chapter of the Bucks babyface turn and Elite reunion.
  • Four way tag women's tag match, winner picks the stipulation for their semifinal match - Why is a stipulation needed for a tournament semifinal match, and thus why is this match even happening? I'll go Sisters of Sin, but there's not really an obvious winner here, so at least that is nice.
  • National title casino gauntlet - Five have declared for it between Lashley, Benjamin, Speedball, Knight, and Ricochet, so I'll go with Ricochet though there is no obvious choice here again
  • TNT title, no DQ, Briscoe joins the DCF if he loses - Before they added the join DCF stip to this, I thought it was a lock Briscoe would win the title. As much as I would love to see that TNT title on Briscoe, I think the more interesting story to be told going forward is Briscoe in the DCF, so I'll go with Fletcher as the winner
  • Tag titles - Going with FTR here, though I would not be surprised if it goes the other way.
  • Women's title - Stat taking the W for sure
  • Men's world title, steel cage - Hangman

that was one of the things that made me stop reading. Well it was a pile of ****, but it smelled so bad I had to give it 5 stars

Well the main event and ending sure was a Swerve, both literally and figuratively. Saved the main event which surprisingly under delivered given who was involved. But Joe vs. Hanger at the last PPV wasn't anything particularly remarkable either, though still a good match, so I guess they just don't have the best chemistry together.

Definitely did not see Joe winning that belt. I would have said 1% chance of winning it since everything in wrestling is possible, and that's about it. Feels a bit lame of a way for Hangman to lose the title after his redemption story to finally return back to AEW champion form was so well written. But I love Joe and heel champs, and babyface are almost always better chasing the title than actually holding it, so we shall see how it goes from here.

Hook turning heel is good because he's always been especially awful as a face (not that he is particularly good as a heel either though...), but I don't get what was the point of having him leave the Opps to pair up Eddie Kingston for like two months f he was just going to end up back with the Opps.

In both tonight’s match and the title match vs MJF that Joe won, I thought both were just filler matches for the title runs of MJF and Page. I never expected Joe to win either one. I was pissed that he beat MJF. At that time I thought he was mid card at best. He title run changed my mind and made me realize how good he is. Still shocked he won tonight though.

I used to be a huge fan of Page. Then he started wearing floral patterns on his gear, bringing up his woke politics online and even interjecting that crap into the product by having AEW call him the “AEW Men’s Champion.” So I’m glad the title is off of him. Joe wouldn’t have been my choice to win it though. The only way I’m good with it is if he faces Swerve or whoever at World’s End, wins and then MJF cashed in and takes the title from him.

Joe just has an aura when he puts on a suit and has the belt with him. Even though he’s long past his prime, he just works as a champ somehow. You believe he could just real life beat the hell out of anyone if he wanted.

Overall it was a good show as usual. The tag match and the briscoe matches were definitely my favorites. But there were several other very good ones as well.

And I’m so glad Swerve is back.

Non-sicko opinion incoming: they need to go back to MJF (likely happening) and begin building him up into a megastar again. AEW's top guys in 2026 should be MJF, Swerve, Ospreay, Take, and Fletcher. That's the true future of the company, even though I've convinced myself MJF is WWE-bound sooner rather than later. That guy isn't re-signing again. You know he wants proper feuds with guys like Cody and Punk on the biggest stage before they retire.

AEW fans clearly love Page but I think casuals don't connect with him at all so you don't bury the guy but him being the face of the company is almost like WWE making Jey the face of their company. It just doesn't work and something is off. I find YEET cringe just like I find 'Hanger' cringe. The cowboy schtick isn't good because he's just a nice looking fella from VA. I guess someone once said he looks like he belongs in Red Dead Redemption and suddenly AEW had a cowboy in the 2020s while WWE had vikings. He's not good playing crazy either. He just makes his eyes look small and beady, does something unrealistically over the top, and that's it. Just make him like a Sami Zayn type. At least Sami feels real now days. 'Crazy cowboy' just isn't it imo.

Woke to say men's championship? Wow what a *ucking loser.

Guess it's woke to call it men's basketball too?

Since that makes it woke, guess that mean's it's fascist to not refer to it as the men's championship.

The women's TV ratings always going up with Hangman on TV says otherwise.

But I got some news for you, unless it's some major tent pole event like a Super Bowl, NCAA Basketball Final Four, WrestleMania, etc., casuals don't pay the bills in 2025. They aren't regularly doing stuff to support the product like watching the tv shows, buying merch, buying PPVs, they buying tickets, etc. They are people you can't count of for anything. You chase the casuals at the expense of the regulars putting money and time into the product then you're running off the money.

That Swerve return may have been the best AEW has ever done at presenting someone as a major star on return. Can anyone else think of a better produced return in AEW history?

Sounds like nothing particularly newsworthy came out of the post-PPV presser other than O’Reilly will not be cleared in time for the Continental Classic.

What do they do with Sasha now? 13 irrelevant belts and can’t win the big one.

Joe is way more interesting than Page - I just don’t find Page interesting at all and his title run has been lackluster.

She crashes out, then eventually she wins the big one after recovering from whatever bottoming out looks like for her. She can overcompensate all she wants by winning all these other belts, none of it is going to make up for the fact she can't win the big one.

Think kind of similar to the end result to Hangman's redemption arc that led to him beating Moxley for the title, except the details in the journey will be nothing remotely similar.

I’m also still waiting for Mox’s crew to turn on him and take him out.
When one of the Death Riders pulls out a bag unknowingly behind Mox's back while he's cutting an in-ring promo while the rest of the crew beats him to a bloody pulp after being bagged and leave him laying in a pool of his blood as Dynamite goes off the air :D
