Just read something on twitter that the WWE/NWA partnership will be ending with this TV deal? Who would want TNA without the WWF guys popping in?

I'm surprised they didn't want to move it to Wednesday's.
That would just be stupid on AMC’s behalf

And TNA’s too unless their goal is to out AEW out of business.

The only one who potentially benefits TNA going to Wednesdays is WWE because they don’t want AEW to exist.

Press release for TNA on AMC says first show will be live then becomes a “weekly event” so presumably will still be a mostly taped show. I know TNA wanted to be live every week but doubt they got the money to be able to afford that.

I liked the 4 vs 4 survivor series match better than the 5 v 5 or this War Games nonsense. War Games was a hokey Dusty creation that was cool for a one off but shouldn't be a staple similar to the Hell In A Cell.

I think the royal rumble is the only gimmick match that I’m fine with being at the same time every year. Mainly because it has been for as long as I can remember

doing hell in a cell just because it’s September is stupid

WWE, particularly NXT, will still have a partnership with TNA moving forward. I'll give their first episode a shot, likely won't stick with it, but I'll see what they do. Guessing Styles will be on that first show. Ratings wise, Dragon will need to prepare himself, at least for week one. Raw and NXT will promote TNA and that first show may pop a surprisingly good rating and could beat Dynamite. Again, probably for a week or so. The conspiracy angle (let's be honest, made up by the AEW faithful) of TNA switching to Wednesdays was always silly. TNA isn't in the strongest position and will need to earn back trust. You just don't immediately put the show against another wrestling show that's in a more stable and better position. Good opportunity for TNA though. I do believe some of the NXT audience will watch so next year if TNA grabbed 350k-500k per week, it wouldn't surprise me.

There's really no good day for TNA at this point or anything for AEW outside of Dynamite, to be honest. Same reason (amongst many other reasons) why I think any potential ROH TV deal would be dead in the water before it even started unless they did something different and went outside of primetime.

At least Thursdays on AMC should mean it basically never gets preempted to a different day or time unless it's because of some major holiday like Thanksgiving. One of numerous problems with Collision is it's constantly getting moved around to a different day or time.

Obviously Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday are out of the picture because of AEW and WWE. TNA would be committing suicide going up against any of those.

Thursday sucks because of the NFL and that's the big midweek day for the NBA once football is done.

Saturdays suck in general for anything but sports regardless if there is any other weekly wrestling programming on. Plus that puts them running up against AEW/WWE PPVs at least once a month and sometimes multiple times a month. Would just be shooting themselves in the foot. Can't maintain any sustained momentum if half your shows are losing a large chunk of viewers to the big shows from the bigger companies.

Sunday nights are the most watched night of TV but that's because there's a lot of competition even outside of football season with it being a significant night for many major networks both on cable and OTA tv.

But does AMC air Talking TNA at 11 pm with Chris Hardwick like they would do with the Walking Dead and some other shows? I'm just asking the important questions!

If anyone dos the twitter, there is an account called @vintagepuro that has linked highlights of Takeshita's first match against El Generico from 13 years ago. Take couldn't have been 185 lbs soaking wet back then. Neat to see his growth over the years, that might be kind of natural!

And on a serious note, hopefully this means TNA can sign talent to real contracts instead of pay per appearance deals. Though I read, but unconfirmed, it’s 30 million total for the length of the deal so that won’t go far.

We think of Takeshita as an overnight sensation because he showed up in AEW seemingly out of nowhere (to most in the U.S. at least), but dude has put in the work and paid his dues.
I was trying to look close enough at the video to see if he has that growth on his nose back then, but I couldn't.
And of course he was cut but very thin in the video, he has bulked up so much since.

It’s funny in a way that he is the IWGP Champ now when NJPW didn’t have any interest in him for years even though he wanted to be there.

Now he’s exactly the type of talent who could be the franchise of New Japan for at least the next decade if he was committed to being there full-time. I’m talking about being the biggest draw in the whole damn country and regularly main eventing the Tokyo Dome for Wrestle Kingdom.

And he was right there in their backyard.

And NJPW said nah we’re good.

As good as he is, chances are he ends up in America anyway, but NJPW never even gave themselves the chance.

I'm probably the only one who watches any of it but all the old WCW, WWE and ECW content is leaving Peacock on December 31st. Maybe it will end up on WWE Vault.

Curious how those heel v. heel matches in the Continental Classic tonight play out.

True. One positive for TNA starting on the 15th is they won't have to worry about TNF until the Fall. Creatively they've gotta get better so the LOLTNA stigma gets removed but it'll take time. You may get a couple Styles appearances and a match since it's his retirement year but TNA will need to stand on its own somewhat to grow. The partnership has worked but they're still seen as NXT's little brother right now. If AMC likes you though, they'll promote the absolute hell out of you.

IF Okada hadn't lost last week I would say for sure PAC is winning. Don't think they are going to make him go 0-2 though.

From a story perspective, Claudio vs. Moxley is one of the most intriguing TV matches they have had in a very, very long time. I would put Claudio as a heavy favorite here, but there's all sorts of ways for it to play out both during the match and in the post match.

And at least with this deal they won't be able to get away with BS like going a whole month without any new TV after their biggest PPV of the year. Still blows my mind that they did that, some of the stupidest business I have ever seen.

I wonder how TNA will do if the NXT partnership ever ends, especially since all the top talent keep leaving for WWE and AEW. If TNA "only" got $10 million a year, though I have not seen that confirmed anywhere, that's not going to go very far in improving talent pay either.

It's also not a good financial deal at all for the NXT talent. Save for a very small few that are on main roster deals, these people are not making nearly as much money as the main roster people and are having to pay for all their travel expenses to work these TNA shows just like the main roster people have to for all the WWE shows. TNA also isn't paying them anything either. And WWE has already shown with Ridge Holland that they will cut people while in the process of recovering from injuries sustained from working TNA shows.

So while I would think WWE would end it eventually, why not keep it alive if it's allowing them to send people off to TNA to get reps without WWE having to incur any cost for it other than paying for medical treatments if a wrestler gets injured? That's cheaper than even running a coconut loop house show from a rinky dink rec center.

Yeah, this is silly but more red meat for fans I guess. His buddy doesn't represent ESPN. Not to mention the partnership began in late Sept. I have my doubts ESPN would be "like so totally hot yo" at WWE in 2.5 months. Remember all the times WWE fans said WBD must be really unhappy with AEW and then a WBD spokesman would tell Sapp how pleased they are with them? Same thing here. We're getting into nerd s... here where both sides want the partners of the other company unhappy. As mid as some of the PLE's have been lately, WWE simply hasn't done anything in two months that would make ESPN furious at them. This is dumb.

I think I’ve gotten old enough that I have just aged out of stand up comedy. I’ve not seen a comedian’s set stand out to me in years. It might be like how older people hate new music.
