Bayley confirms she didn't find out about being pulled from WrestleMania until the day before the show. We know WWE didn't find out about Becky returning only the day before, so they specifically waited until the last minute to tell Bayley about the decision. Just taking advantage of her kindness because they know she isn't going to make a big deal out of being screwed even though any reasonable person would admit she'd have every right to be royally pissed about it.

Bayley has opened up about the heartbreak of missing out on Wrestlemania 41. Despite being placed in a storyline with tag tam partner Lyra Valkyria, Bayley was replaced by Becky Lynch the day before WWE's biggest yearly event, getting written off the show via a behind-the-scenes attack.

Bayley spoke about WWE's last-minute decision on Six Feet Under with The Undertaker and Michelle McCool.

"The day they took me out [of Wrestlemania]? It was the day before," Bayley began. "It’s a test. I feel like every time I get thrown stuff, it’s like I’m just being tested. Not by the company, by the universe and the world it trying to test me.”

“It was rough. It was a little bittersweet. I became really close with Lyra in real life, so I was super excited for her to have her first Wrestlemania, but it was also like, ‘Man, I was told this was where we were going.’”

The multi-time Women's Champion was initially hesitant about being paired with Valkyria at the beginning of their program together, but the duo quickly found chemistry and became popular with the fans.

“Okay, I’m gonna be in this storyline in a tag team with this girl that I don’t even know," Bayley remembered thinking. "I'm just talking about going to Wrestlemania as a tag team -- ‘Don’t you think that’s kind of strange? Like, you’re the Intercontinental Champion and we don’t even know each other.’ I felt weird about it, but throughout the time, we had a few matches and I'm like, 'Damn, we have good chemistry.' I felt genuinely connected with her. She's so good."
Bayley continued telling Undertaker and McCool about how it felt when she learned of WWE's disappointing decision.

"When I was told what was happening, I was like, ‘Oh, now I’m bummed.’ For one, I’m not at Wrestlemania. For two, we put all this work in and I really tried to make us look like a team.”

“It was rough, but it becoming part of a storyline and it becoming what it is now made it a little bit nicer. It’s definitely one of those times... I had a long conversation with [CM] Punk about it. A lot of people that were reaching out were like, 'Everyone’s been in these positions.' But yeah… I don’t know."

FYI Rumble leaks are already popping up from reputable outlets so tread carefully if you want to not be potentially spoiled.

Clearly WWE is mad it leaked out, you expect me to believe no one at WWE knows about Freddie when he used to work there for multiple years in creative/producing/directing?
Yeah, I mean again, what leaked exactly? That a friend of a former actor said ESPN is really mad two months into a partnership that that friend isn't a part of? Also, I have my doubts any of the higher ups at WWE know what Prinze Jr is currently doing. Wasn't Mick Foley's son on the creative team at one point? If you asked someone on creatve what Mick's son is doing now, I'm not sure they'd know.

Keep trying...

Netflix wins the WBD bidding war. Looks like they'll get WB Studios and HBO Max. I suppose another company could pick up the cable channels but at some point AEW might be pushed off Max.

This is terrible for the move and tv industry. And especially the thester

HBO and WB are easily the two best major studios/streamers from a quality standpoint while Netflix churns out millions of hours of stuff they put near zero marketing effort behind unless it’s a MAJOR show/movie with the vast majority of it being low quality bullcrap. A veritable slophouse of a studio/distributor.

And Netflix is obviously very anti-theater and rarely release anything on the big screens. WB has been releasing like 100 movies a year with quite a few major blockbuster level films. If Netflix maintains their current stance on theatrical releases then the theater industry could very likely enter a death spiral.

Meanwhile watch Netflix will raise the price of a subscription to like $40 a month while still maintaining HBO Max so they can fleece people of even more money.

Then the streamers with theatrical studios realized they royally screwed up putting all their movies on streamers within 0-30 days of theatrical release and stopped doing it.

Netflix has never really cared about theatrical releases. In fact, they think anyone who goes to the theater is an antiquated idiot. Which, to be fair, I largely agree with, but streaming isn’t going to produce the revenue required to maintain the output that the theater industry revenue enables.

So yes, this isn't good for several reasons. If you noticed the group of men gathered 'round back in January, you would've noticed they were all billionaires. It's a free-for-all during this time in history. I don't think Netflix gets blocked since they want a large portion of WBD but not the whole thing. They could keep Max separate so the consumer pays for both instead of just Netflix at a higher cost. I never thought we'd see the day when Netflix will likely own all HBO properties but in the last several years I've seen a lot of things I never thought I'd see.

This will affect AEW at some point. I don't see Netflix in bed with the top two wrestling promotions. They seem pleased with WWE but they clearly overpaid. They (imo) have little interest in more wrestling. There's talk of Zas continuing to run just the channels and he likes AEW but now we're back to AEW without a streamer and their past shows in the wind. Their next deal would likely be a lot smaller too. You could also have Paramount, who has a relationship with TKO, buy those channels because they want CNN neutered. We've seen that recently with Colbert and Kimmel. AEW loses in that scenario too.

Prime seems like the best option but then you're expecting Amazon to host several years of past shows and be fully committed to pro wrestling that's not WWE. It's Amazon. They wanted a partnership with the NFL, not the CFL. So we'll see.

No one even wants WWE’s library anymore, that’s basically irrelevant for any wrestling company anymore. There’s little to no value there. Even when the WWE Network existed hardly anyone was watching, and literally the only people subscribing to that were WWE fans. If they don’t want to watch surely no one else well. That’s why you’ve heard basically nothing about where WWE’s libraries are going when it goes off Peacock in literally less than a month if I remember correctly.

So if there’s no value in the WWE library there sure won’t be in literally any other companies library. As we’ve seen, AMC didn’t even care enough to pay for exclusive rights to TNA’s weekly show since TNA can still air it on their own subscription service, much less showing any interest in their library.

But Amazon has apparently been pretty pleased with the AEW PPV business. I’m sure less pleased since PPVs became available on HBO Max since I would logically assume that ate into their sales, but if Amazon was happy seeing 100K+ paying $50 for a PPV they would likely see a good bit of value in getting the weekly programming too.

That would also allow for greater merchandising opportunities for AEW/Amazon. And that’s what Amazon’s goal really is, get people’s foot in the door with the content so they can get free shipping to buy a bunch of stuff. They take losses on the Prime streaming because they’ll more than offset it with people buying stuff.

WWE continuing to rewrite history. At least in my opinion.

WCW didn’t push him, along with the entire cruiserweight/luchador division, as much as they should have because of the wrestling industry’s decades long discrimination against smaller and/or non-white wrestlers, but that was easily one of the best things WCW ever did.

Letting guys like Malenko, Jericho, Mysterio, Benoit, Eddie Guerrero, La Parka, Blitzkrieg, Psicosis, Juventud Guerrera, etc. go out there and wow the audience every week was arguably an industry changing strategy that rarely gets talked about. It took up at most like a quarter of WCW’s tv time and it was the foundation for a lot of what wrestling become in the USA following WCW and ECW’s demise.

I’ve always maintained that the golden era of the indies in the 2000s and early 2010s would never have been what it was if it had not been for WCW platforming those people in the way that they did. And that golden era of the indies was the catalyst behind black and gold NXT and AEW along with a ton of the talent both in WWE and especially AEW. And of course quite a few of those guys ended up being pretty big names in New Japan so it had a big influence over there as well

It’s ROH PPV day. A couple injuries forced some changes (or one suspected change and one confirmed), but is otherwise a pretty loaded card for ROH.
  • ROH Men’s title Survival of the Fittest match - Bandido (c) vs. Guevara, Komander, Blake Christian, the Beast Mortos, and Hechicero. This was originally going to be Bandido vs. RUSH but Rush is injured.
  • ROH Women’s TV title - Mercedes Mone (c) vs. Red Velvet
  • ROH Six Man tag title match Wednesday- (c) Shane Taylor Promotions (Shane Taylor, Shawn Dean, Carlie Bravo) vs. Skyflight (Scorpio Sky and Top Flight)
  • ROH Women’s Pure Chanpionship Tournament finals - Billie Starkz vs. Deonna Purrazzo. Deonna advanced to the finals via Aminata having to forfeit since she still can’t get cleared from her neck injury, most people think Aminata was the original plan to win the title
  • AEW National title match - Ricochet (c) vs. Dalton Castle
  • 30 minute iron man match - Nigel McGuinness vs. Lee Moriarity
  • ROH vacant tag title match - LFI (Guevara and Beast Mortos) vs. Adam Priest and Dynamite Kid Tommy Billington
  • Ace Austin vs. Lee Johnson
  • Josh Woods vs. Eddie Kingston - odd decision here given Eddie has an AEW title match Wednesday but one more tuneup match for him before the big one isn’t a bad idea

Leila Grey vs. Zayda Steel added to the preshow. Steel recently chose to not renew her WWE ID contract. That and the fact she is very attractive is about all I know about her

Also added to the preshow is Daniel Garcia and Wheeler Yuta vs. the Grizzled Young Veterans with Moxley on commentary

Mercedes has lost her first championship, dropping the tv title to Red Velvet

Can’t believe she used her creative control to lose an ROH match, smh. She for sure won’t be winning Booker of the Year!

Who in the hell did Gunther jack off to keep getting pushed like this? He is so not over with the fans, a boring wrestler in the ring, and has the personality of a turd. Here was a chance to push some from NXT and make a name for themselves on the main roster. This entire Cena retirement tour has been nothing but a joke!

Guess TNA got tired of hiring from the WWE scrap heap so they decided to take a visit to the AEW landfill and debut tonight Brock Anderson, Bear Bronson, and the Righteous along with non-former AEW talent CW Anderson who is a couple decades past his prime.

TNA has always been the scrap heap or mining undiscovered young talent - it’s been like that for 25 years. That’s how AJ and Samoa Joe became relevant.

Yeah, I will never respect Gunther unless he implements superkicks and Canadian destroyers into his matches.

I just assume any Gunther hate is a generational fan thing. He would be successful in any era and he's what, like an 8.5/10 on the mic and a 9/10 in ring? Who in their right mind wouldn't want that on their roster or wouldn't push that?
Gunther is great but would have been perfect in the 80s
