If a qb takes a nasty hit and then a mild sack the following game and quickly retires, fans will assume none of those bumps helped and the collection of hits contributed to the forced retirement. Only in wrestling do we say the nasty whiplash bump on someone's upper back who has a history of concussions was safe but the clothesline afterward forced the guy into retirement. It was dumb but no one told the young guy and the older guy with injury issues no. Same with JD. In retrospect, maybe don't allow a high risk high flying move right next to a newly re-enforced and larger announce table that has little give. We don't want these guys in bubble wrap but we're also seeing more of them injured or lucky to walk away from a match no one will remember. It happens in both companies but we do end up seeing more of this in one long AEW PPV. Those aren't amazing sells, it's dudes landing incorrectly and in heaps and then those "old heads" call it out and simply ask, "what are they doing?"
I still don't understand Drainmaker's rationale. "LOOK AT ONE OF MY FAVS LANDING ON HIS SKULL! DISGUSTING! WE'RE SICKOS HA!"
I want to be entertained, not watch people trainwreck themselves for a few chants and I'm glad someone everyone respects like Regal spoke up against an industry wide problem.
