I would like to get some thoughts on who you guys think is the most underrated 'wrestler' in WWE history? I may take heat here but I gotta go with HBK Shawn Michaels.

He's the best worker they ever had. Seems like the wrestling forum 'WF' shows him no respect and it took backstage bitching and fighting with Vince in order to get his point across that he is the best they had back then. 7 years with the company until he won the title in 96.

Kinda hard to be underrated when you are HBK.

Owen Hart
Shelton Benjamin
Jake Roberts

Those guys never got the spotlight that they deserved...IMO

I'm sure I'm missing some that are probably even more deserving of the label, but don't feel like putting in that much effort today.

Macho Man

was just as much an entertainer and performer as Hogan with 100X the ability inring to work. but was overshadowed and put down by Hogan during both his WWF and WCW runs.

How are two of the most popular wrestlers ever underrated? I hate these questions because it makes people rationalize things that otherwise would make no sense.

Big John Stud to me is the most underrated.

I was just answering the question, not reading into it.

The three that I mentioned were either in someones shadow or kept from being THE "A" lister.

I was just speaking in general. Naturally it makes you want to think about a superstar that, like Macho, lived in Hogans shadow. But he was a superstar regardless and while technically Hogan is the goat, a case could be made that a lot of fans liked macho more.

I'm not picking at any response here at all because I did the same thing.

My #2 pick would be Magnum but that was more because of a career ending injury.

Taken from another site:

From the latest Observer -

"Exactly how much of this is legit or exaggerated you can make up your own mind, but the Vince McMahon vs. HHH dynamic is something that everyone is talking about internally, even more since Shane McMahon appeared on the scene. The feeling is that if Shane McMahon actually does come back into the company in an executive capacity that it’ll be Vince playing Shane against HHH and Stephanie.

While publicly HHH will say Vince loves NXT, the internal perception is very different, seeing it as a touring brand filled with so many guys Vince doesn’t believe are money. We do know there was a lot of heat on HHH and complaints for not selling the Reigns beating in public, because he had to get his face on the NXT show in London knowing it would be a super show in front of that crowd and he didn’t want anyone to not know it was his creation and baby.

The questions regarding Reigns given how he’s not gotten over with HHH as his adversary for so long has led to plenty of finger pointing, although a lot of people pointed to the crotch chop on Raw as the sign HHH is no longer really behind the cause of getting Reigns over as a face. Perhaps that’s just paranoia and frustration, but the way Reigns was eliminated at the Rumble and the HHH/Reigns interaction with him has been curious to say the least."

Well that is all sorts of awesome....need any help with questions...LOL

I was reading about the new Best of NXT DVD that came out yesterday. Apparently they have edited out all of Seth Rollins' curb stomps. They either cut to a different shot or edit it out
all together on the replays. In the words of The Miz...REALLY???? REALLLY??

Absolutely will take question suggestions from all of you like always.

And I don't get why the curbstomp is so bad? How is it any worse than some of these other finishing moves?

My question, and this can be posed as kayfabe or not kayfabe, what did he think about the Horsemen turning on him every time just for him to accept their help the next time?

The kayfabe answer may be funnier, but I would love to know if Borden ever got feed up with that angle being recycled a million times until he looked like the most gullible slack jaw in the world

Heisman,

You know you have to ask him a question about his son, UK, and the BBN. It might be off limits, but ask him about the injury in the match with Rollins and then ask him if that was his last match or if he thinks he has one more in him. I can't imagine he would want to retire 0 - 2 in the WWE.

I would love to know if he has any regrets not staying with the WCW brand and being the face of it when WWE bought it.

Yeah, HBK - one guy who is on EVERYONE's "Mount Rushmore" of all-time greats is underrated. That's brilliant even by your standards...

Here's a list of underrated UK basketball players:

  • John Wall
  • Anthony Davis
  • DeMarcus Cousins
Here's a list of underrated things in general:
  • Boobs;
  • Oxygen;
  • Sex

Well, if you are allowed to dial me in I swear I'd sit silently!

Of course you should drop this thread because you post on a UK board and his son attended UK.

I can drop a few questions if necessary.

Pissy LD Rules!!!!

So just going to throw this out there, any chance they do a title change on Saturday night with Ambrose winning it, then having him and Brock as the main event for WM 32. I'll hang up and listen, or duck as the case might be.

As far as Sting goes I would like to hear something about The Crow gimmick and what it was like in WCW once they NWO guys came in. I have heard others talk about it but not him.

Yes there is a chance! It would be much better for WWE to change me out of WM with that scenario than the one we will be presented with.

Add to the NWO talk with why join WWE 6 months ago as opposed to years ago when he had time left!

I'll see what I can do, bud. Do we follow each other on twitter? I can't recall but let me know the email/digits in a PM somewhere and I'll see if it's possible. I had a buddy that is a huge fan of Paige and was going to be listening in but got called into a meeting right before.

This will be the hardest one and the biggest one for me. The longer the career, the harder it is to condense a million questions you may have into a 15 minute interview all while not trying to sound like a fanboy.

HBK is in EVERYONE'S top 10. He's in EVERYONE's top 5.

He was champ when business was down. So was Bret. People make excuses for both of them because of that HBK and Bret are beloved by smarks because of their work rate. HBK draws heat because he was a prick, the clique and Montreal (but to a lesser degree than in the past).

HBK and Bret go hand in hand. They're beside each other on Mount Rushmore. The others that enter the argument are Hogan, Flair, Austin, Dwayne, and you have to put Cena into the conversation if you're having an honest conversation (though he's not going to make it).

Hogan and Flair are together. Austin and Dwayne are together. Again, to be fair, you'd either have to say this is 1980 and after or you'd have to include some older guys. There you'd have Harley Race and Bruno as the most obvious for the 70s. Then there's Buddy Rogers and guys who weren't as great but who were important - Gorgeous George.

So, that's a terrible take. Terrible. You seem to enjoy the attention you get from those posts.

You are on to one thing with Hogan - he is the most IMPORTANT wrestler of the past 30 years. He's not the BEST. Vince used him to vault WWF into the mainstream and the cover of Sports Illustrated some time in 1985. Hogan was popular and had charisma. He wasn't good though. Things don't have to be good to be important or popular. The Macarena was popular. "YMCA" is popular at corporate Christmas parties. None of them are good.

I don't Twitter and while I appreciate the actual consideration to my ludacris request, I'd never honestly ask that to happen.

I do appreciate it.

15 minutes? Goodness that isn't enough to get 2 questions in if you ask the wrong one! Also Sting isn't an employee anymore I thought?

Anyway, here you go 4 questions that dial it in:

Even though he debuted with Warrior in Memphis when does he think he really got that moment where his career took off? Clash of Champioms 1 vs Flair?

Got to be asked because he worked with both, Flair or Hogan?

How did NWO Impact his feelings on WCW, and did those guys cause him not to join WWE earlier?

Word for word on this one:

I post on a UK message board and there is a fanboi on there of yours for 26 or so years that wants to know why join WWE after all this time just to lose to HHH, your legacy is better than that!

Because he was going to get more of a role and a big payoff he didn't need! Maybe it was to get his HOF fame moment, but I think he was going to get the belt 1 last time and his injury stopped that.

My opinion of underrated would be guys like Bill Dundee (feuds with KingFish are as good as any, yet never got the call up.)

Tommy Rich
Dutch Mantel
Bobby Rude

Those are what I would consider underrated. IMHO of course. Even guys like Nakita Koloff, Pez Whatley etc. loved those dudes, but never really got a big run.

Thoughts on Lex Luger ??? Big Sting counterpart, muscle head and I know he held titles, but still, in todays wrestling he would be pushed to the moon.

Ask him if he remembers some dumbass kids talking to him after he passed security at O'hare airport in '98. lol

Bobby Rude, hell yeah! Him and that crazy bearded SOB are the only two good talents in IMPACT. Haven't watched the product in a couple of years, but they could make it in WWE.

[laughing] Those are actually really great questions. I'll have to get one or two WWE questions since they're hosting this interview and doing the HOF but will spend the majority of everything on his past career and i'll obviously ask if he's had his last match (in some form). I'll probably pass on all TNA stuff.

I hope this ends up as good as my Jerry Lawler interview. He was one of the best ones I've ever interviewed. I imagine Sting has a lot of cool stories as well.

@K-mac18 , I interviewed Brie Bella this morning and she was super nice and very open. I got to talk a lot about her and Bryan's personal life (even got their future kids' names). It was mostly centered on Total Divas, health/fitness, Bryan marriage but did get her thoughts on if Lana would be a good one to add to the cast (giving her a chance to do a mix of some reality/ kayfabe).

Pretty sure we're getting a Daniel Bryan/Brie Bella reality show at some point. It wasn't said but she seemed to allude to it and that Bryan is all about it .

Oh, and agree that Sting should have got one title run; just one. Even if it lasted a day or a week, it would have been awesome.

Have him win at NOC, drop it to Rollins again at HIAC due to HHH interference. When Rollins goes down, we could do some weird way that HHH wins the title and it's a continuation of the Rollins reign (somehow) around Survivor Series. Drop it at Mania.

The more I think about last year, the more I realize how much more they could have done had Reigns or Ambrose won the MITB briefcase instead of Sheamus. You'd have that inkling of "Will he do something shady to cash that in?" Then it would make a heel turn easier.

Luger underrated? If there was ever another Reigns in history, it's Luger! He was god awful on the mic and he was rather stiff in the ring. But he had the look for sure!

Also that torture rack is brutal. My older much bigger cousins loved to put me in that move and I swear I'd get my *** beat for having no way out of it except punches to the face, but the beating never felt as bad as some idiot bouncing up and down like my spine was made of jello!

Heisman that is tough for WWE to hold you to because he was here for what 4 shows and maybe 1-2 PPVs?

And I agree, I'd act as if TNA doesn't nor did it ever exist.

These Network specials are fun.

Ambrose-HHH was a hell of a match - even though you knew there was no way Ambrose would win.

Vince better have something big planned for WM because Reigns is going to get booed out of the Jerry Dome. The NXT tag match was great and so was the women's match.
Main event was fine even though you knew Ambrose wasn't going to win.

I'm sure they have something in mind. Not many of us saw the Rollins cash-in during the match last year. I'm sure they might do something big. I really wish they had Cena back to make this a lot easier to do. A heelish Reigns against Cena would have done the trick for everyone involved.

Maybe WWE can hire these Move On protesters to come in and drown out the boos?

^^^ You know what I agree with you on that!!!

Hey Heisman one more question for you. Wonder if you could ask Sting if it is really true the reason he didn't come to WWE all those years and worked for TNA instead was because of the more racy TV-14 Product. Unlike what they are now, more kid friendly and all.

If they pay their money they can cheer, boo, fart, or yawn. It's their right.

As a matter of fact they have the responsibility to react honestly. If you don't like it -boo, or be quiet. Let creative know that it sucks.

That would be cool but I'm guessing with PR, they will ask that I not include that. I've been asked to omit mentioning that they have better health benefits now and less substance abuse, not to mention that someone loves wine a lot and that one of the Divas said they'd love to fight Kim Kardashian.

SO it sounds like just about everyone involved with Wrestlemania will be on the show tonight. Brock, Taker and probably even Roman. Also rumors of Mick Foley being on too.

Foley is also getting a show on the WWE Network, supposed to be him and his daughter. In my best Jason Spear, "I would just watch her for 30 minutes...."

Since there are a lot of old school fans here...

Many of you remember Kamala. In the last few years, he's experienced a variety of health issues, including losing both legs.

I designed a bunch of shirts for him and helped him open a store in ProWrestlingTees.com.

Check them out and if you buy one, all proceeds go directly to James (Kamala). Thanks!!!
