The problem is they went public and have people to answer to financially and those people force this stupid ****.

It's all to please investors.

Speaking of that, I was looking at WWE's stock the past few years earlier tonight and it's garbage but there was a big jump in 2013 and then a huge crash. What happened there? Can anyone remember what was going on? The Network isn't that old.

@HeismanWildcat85 , I've had that Bret hart book for months and have never even started reading it. Taking it on vacation next weekend and plan on starting it. We're gonna have the baby staying in our room and I'm gonna need something to make me sleepy every night and nothing does the trick like trying to read.

You'll love it especially when he gets past the Stampede Wrestling era and to WWF. This guy holds absolutely nothing back at all. You'll learn all kinds of stuff. I read the bulk of the book on a plane ride to Hawaii in 2011. Once you get in a flow, you can bust that out in no time because it's not a chore to read; it's pure entertainment.

Bret's book is AWESOME. I still think Mick Foley's first book is the best book written by a wrestler, but Bret's is by far the most comprehensive. Bret remembers everything, random house show matches, random conversations with Vince, everything. For him to remember that much after suffering a stroke is remarkable. Plus it has a lot of the cartoons that Bret would draw on the white boards to rib the wrestlers, a couple of really cool Owen stories, etc.

It also came out right before Bret buried the hatchet with Vince and Michaels and WWE over Montreal, so it has the last stages of Bret's bitter paranoia and delusion, at least over those two. He ties every encounter with Vince and Shawn into some kind of omen about Montreal.

Besides that stuff, the only other point of contention I had with the book was the idea that Flair was trying to make Bret look bad when he dropped the belt in 1992 for Bret's first title win and their ensuing feud. That was just a case of two excellent, prideful wrestlers holding strong to their style of match and having bad chemistry as a result.

* Anybody else know of two good wrestlers whose matches were never as good as they should have been? I think you could put Rock vs. Undertaker, Austin vs. Jericho, HHH vs. Angle and Cena vs. Orton in there. It isn't like they had bad matches (except Rock vs. Undertaker - EVERY singles match between them stunk), but there was just something a little off each time.

- HBK and Vader. I mean, maybe not exactly what you're talking about because the issues were more personal than work related, but they still stunk

- Jake and Rick Martel, not even counting the blindfold match.

- Goldust and Pillman. Again, a lot more going on than just in ring chemistry, but both those guys were tits and their match sucked

Bret took copious notes/journals throughout his career. He also buries Dean Malenko in his book. Big thumbs up from me

Actually it was late 2013-early 2014 also known as the time HHH took over which increased the stock price. Then he chose to have Bautista win the rumble and the stock took a dive.

Not sure if that was around the time of Punk leaving too or what.

I think WWE was expecting a bigger contract from the USA network and didn't get it. I believe the market also reacted to the new WWE network and was skittish about the WWE network's success.

Resubscribed to the network just because of the cruiserweight tournament. Think it will be awesome.

The nostalgic part of me wants to see Jericho carry a scale and try to enter the tournament.

Let's just get this out of the way...

Everything Dave Batista did in 2014 was awesome. He was an unbelievable pro wrestler in 2014. The way he took the crowd reactions in stride after winning the Rumble vs. the way he reacted to Hammerstein hating his guts in 2006 was great, and then once he became champion, he put over Daniel Bryan clean as a whistle and also did the same thing for the Shield. And if he hadn't had to go and film SPECTRE, he could have in theory had a match against Brock Lesnar, which...I mean, I want everybody who's halfway decent to have a match against Brock Lesnar.

* Gonna go all caps for this next one:

THERE COULD BE A KOTA IBUSHI VS. ZACK SABRE JR. MATCH IN WWE.

And that isn't to take away from Cedric Alexander, Tommaso Ciampa, Johnny Gargano, Drew Gulak, TJ Perkins, Rich Swann, Akira Tozawa, even Tajiri, who I'm sure still has a ton left in the tank.

Go ahead and check out some of Kota Ibushi's and Zack Sabre Jr.'s matches. Ibushi had Dave Meltzer's match of the year in 2015 vs. Nakamura in the Tokyo Dome. I also once saw him have an amazing match with YOSHIHIKO, who is a blow-up doll. Basically, Ibushi can wrestle nothing and have a great match. ZSJ just had a bonkers match with Kurt Angle of all people over the weekend in the UK. He's got that British technical style of William Regal with lots of joint-based submissions, but he can also really move in that ring. He isn't a Regal clone, not that this would be a bad thing. If it's somebody besides those two in the finals I'll be surprised.

This is a good MITB lineup. Can't wait for Styles vs Cena. Also it is a big match for Rollins if he has any shot of becoming the new face of the company, he must go over Reigns for that to happen. They seem to think high of Seth and I think if Reigns wins then it won't be clean.

I just saw Ric Flair is advertising you can have a 5 minute phone call with him for only $495.

[roll]

That's sad as hell. Who would pay that? That's like five Skype sessions with Sunny.

Predictions (I'll probably be watching game 7 like most of the country)

Ziggler v Corbin... does it really matter? Ziggler I guess

Dudleys v Lucha Dragons - Lucha Dragons

Breezango v Golden Truth - Breezango

Apollo Crews v Sheamus - Crews

Charlotte & Dana v Natalya & Becky - Natalya & Becky

US Championship: Rusev v Titus - Rusev

Tag Team Championship: New Day v Enzo & Cass v Vaudevillains v The Club - The Club

Money in the Bank winner: Dean Ambrose (probably Kevin Owens) (Dark Horse - Alberto Del Rio)

AJ Styles v John Cena - AJ Styles

WWE Title - Rollins v Reigns - Rollins, followed by Ambrose cashing in and winning title. Setting up a two month build up to SummerSlam 3 way Shield title match.

Prediction time, will probably watching on my laptop unless the Warriors are getting beat then I will just watch the show.

Reigns over Rollins
AJ over Cena
Owens to win MITB
The Club wins the Tag Titles and pins someone other than New Day
Rusev smash
Charlotte and Dana- maybe a Becky heel turn (4 Horsewomen??)
Corbin over Ziggler
Crews over Sheamus
Truth-Dust over the other guys
Dudleyz over Luchas

Dang that is 10 matches including the preshow, that is quite a lot

So WWE is promoting the "New Era" but because of the brand split they are interested in potentially signing: Goldberg, Kurt Angle, Rey Mysterio, Jeff Hardy and Shelton Benjamin among others in order to add depth to the rosters.

A lot of times I see wrestling fans complain that a show is predictable.

Sometimes predictable is good. As soon as Ambrose won that finish to the show was in play and it was absolutely the right call.

Good on you, Bandit.

Thanks BKH... They want to do the Sheild triple threat and want it to be for the title. This made the most sense to get it on Dean and so all 3 have a claim to the title.

Also another thing to point out - Seth beat Roman clean in the middle of the ring. That should not be over looked.

All three Shield members won the first WWE title pinning each other.
Rollins pins Reigns- Mania 31
Reigns pins Ambrose- Survivor Series
Ambrose pins Rollins- MITB

Each one took a pin to give a guy their moment. Pretty cool.

I heard someone predict a double pin during a triple threat match leading to the brand split.

Glad Ambrose won because we couldn't take another Rollins run. He's just boring, Dean is by far the most underrated superstar not named Randy Orton on this board. The WWE needed a new star and while we all thought AJ was it, once he lost I knew KO or Ambrose was the guy.

Now for Reigns.. Vince blows him up to only have him lose the title again. Stop the epic push and have him set back and maybe go after the IC title.

If you've ever won the WWE title, you should never go back to the IC ranks. He can have feuds without it being for a title.

I agree for the most part. But Reigns needs the heat to get off him and I think if he works hard to get better and in the mid card for now fans will start to respect him.

All fans want is for him to get better with mic skills and in ring. Not going over everybody clean.

Welp probably should have watched MITB instead of having to sit through that game last night.

I like the idea of The Shield Triple Threat at the next PPV.

One complaint would it have killed Vince to have Cena lose clean to AJ. It would have made him and wouldn't hurt Cena one bit.

Enjoyed the tag match.

AJ-Cena started iffy, had a great body and terrible ending.

MITB match was boring. Owens should have won.

Loved the Rollins win. Understand why Ambrose won MITB and cashed in, don't have to like it.

Rollins had a fine title run. Remember that this is BOOKED. He was booked as a chicken **** heel and programmed with Kane.

Here is what The Shield guys do best
  • Seth - professional wrestling matches, cool moves;
  • Ambrose - hardcore matches, dating Renee Young ;
  • Reigns - use conditioner, be Samoan, conveniently forget the Usos exist.
Rollins got huge pops last night. It wasn't a smarky crowd. Don't know if they realized that they were turning him.

Rollins run was because well yeah it was booked that way. But you can't spin how awful his title run was. They gave him the green light and the ratings went even more down, people calling for Bryan to come back, and how can you have bad matches against Brock? well he did. His match last night with Reigns wasn't as good as Reigns and AJ, yet those crazy smarks think he was the star last night when yet once again that was indeed Ambrose. No credit from the WC, however just letting lurkers know because they gotta read what typically is bad wrestling takes here. SOME TIME

So... Rollins misses 7 months and can't have as great of a match as AJ and that proves something? [roll]

Cena didn't exactly have his fastball against AJ last night.

Rollins is better than Ambrose.

Maybe Ambrose will ignite and have better matches, but he is snarky comic relief at this point. Mitch the plant is his thing.

95% of the best WWE matches of 2016 have had either AJ Styles or Roman Reigns in them. TS.

Thought Reigns and Rollins tore the house down. Favorite match on the show. I know Rollins has been doing house shows, but for that to be his first big match back from knee surgery...shew wee, he's good. And if you think he's good now, wait until he turns face. That where he'll make his money. Last night was a good glimpse of both Rollins working face and Reigns working heel. Just an extremely well done match and angle.

Gotta strike while the iron is hot with this Shield 3-way. Ideally you'd want it to happen at WM, but you can't take that risk again since they've sat on this match twice in the last two years only to have plans derailed by injuries.

I loved the ending of last night's match. I don't like Ambrose that much because I think he's boring and stale in the ring and on the mic but his history of The Shield made that moment. Rollins and Reigns were fantastic and I'm sure that Reigns' part will be chalked up as "Rollins carried him," which is BS. Both guys looked awesome. I think Rollins is an obvious babyface and what Reigns did last night is the type of character he should always be... tough and cocky.

I will say though, that I think Rollins may have become my favorite. That guy is awesome and you tell me that this isn't one of the coolest counters you've ever seen?

The last 3 years has had a Shield member main event the last 2 years in ppv's. Really without Ambrose being part of it. I like the idea of Dean being looked at as a top 5 guy, will he jump ahead of Rollins? Not the way he is booked right now. But I bet he will have a better title run then Seth if he holds it until Summerslam.

Pretty fun Raw show actually.

Wyatt's vs New Day intrigues me
Shield 3 way is going to be awesome. Think their best tag match was the triple threat vs Evolution at one PPV a couple years ago
Baron is the new designated bathroom break. I think the guy has actually gotten a little better but it's doing nothing for me.
Charlotte vs Paige was dumb. Becky being a dumb babyface is really dumb. But at least the BO$$ is back.
AJ vs Cena could be great, but it's going back to Cena against the World for the Finale. Oh well.

Picked up tix to Night of Champions in Indianapolis in September. Have Broncos vs Bengals at 1 and then heading straight up for the PPV. Last year's MITB I went to was a great show (outside Sheamus winning) so hoping NoC can at least hold a candle to it.

Yeah I thought the show was pretty good last night. I haven't watched MITB yet but I am definitely looking forward to the Shield Triple Threat.

Bengals and Broncos and NOC makes for a pretty good Sunday I must say.

Thought it would have been better if Becky turned and they reformed the 4 Horsewomen, but what do I know.
Corbin was great in NXT, shocked he isn't doing much on the main roster (sarcasm)

Was reading about all the older guys they are thinking about bringing in after the roster split. Kurt Angle says he has been in talks with WWE and will be back soon. Would be interesting to see how they use him.
