But, but........it's what the market will bear according to clueless mouthpieces and agents. That athletes don't even care about what not having a salary cap does to the game is sickening.Nobody is competing with the Dodgers anytime soon. They just got Kyle Tucker on a massive contract. They have to implement a salary cap at some point. Otherwise teams like the Reds will never compete again. (Not excusing our cheap owner. The fact that Hunter Greene is already in trade talks as young as he is, is ridiculous.)
Hunter Greene misses way too much of the regular season every year with injuries and completely folded against the Dodgers in the playoffs. He is the one pitcher that should be made available in trade talks as they won't be able to afford signing him to a second contract beyond the team friendly deal he signed in 2023. Moving him for a bat would be help this team more.Nobody is competing with the Dodgers anytime soon. They just got Kyle Tucker on a massive contract. I am already at the dry heave stage with them. They make me want to puke.
He's already stated that he wants to go to LA or another big market team. He's not in love with the Reds.![]()
Elly De La Cruz turned down largest contract in Reds history
De La Cruz, who celebrated his 24th birthday earlier this week, is eligible for arbitration for the first time in 2027.www.nytimes.com

You can easily Google it. It's been talked about on Redszone, too. Why do you think he rejected a long contract? Please share a source for said quote to reference this claim. Never once heard him say he wants to go to LA.
Was it Thom Brennaman that said "San Fran was the f*g capital of the world"? I'll take that guy....What’s the tv rights deal looking like for next year?
And more importantly can we get someone to replace Lark in the booth?
I did “easily Google” it. Nothing came up. If it is easy, you'll be able to pull a source quickly where EDLC says he wants to be in LA. I also read RedsZone and their current thread on it. He’s never once talked about his future. Rejecting an extension is not the same as making the bold claim that he wants to play for LA, which is an unfounded comment. EDLC is not signing an extension at this moment before he hits arbitration and has a lot of room to grow. It undermines his value at this time when he still hasn't reached his ceiling. You can easily Google it. It's been talked about on Redszone, too. Why do you think he rejected a long contract?
Elly De La Cruz needs to show a hell of a lot more before this franchise gets weighed down by another long-term extension or another teams signs him to a massive contract. He’s still making way too many errors at SS. After 3 years, it’s time to take a serious step forward. Needs to improve his plate discipline (29% strikeout rate). Clean those up before you even dream of a Bobby Witt Jr.-level contract. I get it, he played through a quad injury in the 2nd half, but in 2026, it’s time to **** or get off the pot. If the Reds are still scraping for the third Wild Card spot or worse while he’s in arbitration, spending all that money on one player will not be justifiable while watching other players slip away. Just like the Votto/Homer Bailey years after Dusty was fired.I did “easily Google” it. Nothing came up. If it is easy, you'll be able to pull a source quickly where EDLC says he wants to be in LA. You must not know too many Reds fans because the majority of us are anything but eternal optimists. We are a frustrated fan base that is sick of mediocrity and the cheap skate Castellini ownership.I love Reds fans. They are kinda like IU basketball fans in that it's been so long since they won a title but they are eternal optimists.
As someone else said, baseball is a joke with the Dodgers getting all thr best players anyways.
Totally agree. He doesn’t want to be here. I’d trade him to a team far away from California for a bat or two.Hunter Greene misses way too much of the regular season every year with injuries and completely folded against the Dodgers in the playoffs. It’s my biggest pet peaves if baseball. Small market teams have little chance anymore.I love Reds fans. They are kinda like IU basketball fans in that it's been so long since they won a title but they are eternal optimists.

Hunter Greene hasn’t lived up to the hype. If he wants to leave, it’s not the Reds fault. He’s had plenty of opportunities and not held up.Totally agree. He doesn’t want to be here. I’d trade him to a team far away from California for a bat or two.
Finally bringing some massive power to the lineup. Excited to have him back in Cincy!
Reds Sign Eugenio Suarez - MLB Trade Rumors
With a $16 million option for 2027. Cincinnati is not handing out lifetime contracts like Soto or Ohtani received. Whatever they need to do to improve the team for 2026 within their budget, knowing they have a deep farm system full of infield prospects. Collier will be ready for his MLB debut and take over 3B soon enough. $15 million for a guy who hit 49 home runs, drove in 118 runs, and made the All-Star team? I will take that all day. The alternative was dealing with Ke’Bryan Hayes again. As good as his glove is at third base, he is just as bad at the plate. No thanks. One year deal?

It is surprising to see players like Suárez and Luis Arraez taking one-year deals. Arraez has the highest batting average in MLB since 2019 and is still under 30, passed on multi-year offers. Pittsburgh had also offered Geno 2-years, $30 million.Me too. I meant why would he take that?
No matter what the Reds do, some 'fans' will always find a way to ***** and moan about it. Hysterical! No thanks. Smiley KO Suarez.
He logged a few games at 1st last year between Arizona & Seattle. Can Suarez play 1st?
No matter how bad the Reds are, and don't do anything in the off-season to get better, gullible fans still show up. Hysterical! No matter what the Reds do, some 'fans' will always find a way to ***** and moan about it. Hysterical!
I remember you saying in the old thread that the Reds were better the moment they traded Suarez. They lost 100 games that year. Can’t wait to hear more of these hot takes. No matter how bad the Reds are, and don't do anything in the off-season to get better, gullible fans still show up. Hysterical!

It’s dumb as hell, allowing them to keep signing every massive FA on these deferred deals is crazy. Yeah they have to set the money aside in an account today but it should be a massive blow to their competitive payroll. Even the massive luxury tax isn’t even deterring them. I hated seeing the Blue Jays blow the World Series with 3 inning to go. The Dodgers deserve to lose for 30 straight years now.Nobody is competing with the Dodgers anytime soon. They just got Kyle Tucker on a massive contract. They have to implement a salary cap at some point. Otherwise teams like the Reds will never compete again. (Not excusing our cheap owner.
