Like I've been saying for weeks, the SEC will only expand if it can hit a home run by doing so. Texas A&M was a home run. West Virginia isn't even close. Everyone keeps saying there's some magical number of 16 teams. That's ********. I have no idea if the SEC winds up with 13, 14, 15 or 16 teams. But you can bet the house that anyone else added will be a big national player.

that thought it would be inevitable that they'd join up with us. I still can't imagine that happening...

Why are we going to believe that SEC news is dispensed on a U of Cincinatti site? Not the best of sources. I have heard that the SEC has an application from W. Virginia and is still debating. Maybe. Maybe not. But there are alot of folks that think W. Virginia is a good fit. If we are going to go to only 14 schools, then lets help Florida State with the $ 20 million exit fee and be done. And I truly believe that the gentleman's agreement is off the table at this point--we are only about hard cash and FSU is a national brand.

the exit fees than FSU, VTech, and UNC should be the only schools offered. What a conference.

is using the threat of adding WV to soften up the resistance of SC, GA, & FLA has to adding Clemson and Florida State?

doesn't get mentioned? They are a top 5 football program in the last 30 years. I'd put them number 1 really. Pretty huge market down there too. Pac12/16 has 4 California teams. Maybe the SEC should try for the big 3 in Florida by adding FSU and Miami along with VTech or UNC. 17 adding Mizzou. Oh and I'm well aware that the SEC has already stated it's not adding schools from states that already have members so Incognegro, AssEndDawg and MissouriDawg thanks for not repeating this.

Since they've joined the ACC, they've been pretty mediocre. Not to mention they have no fanbase at all and they're about to get hammered by the NCAA. It'll take them at least 5 years to even begin to recover and during that time, schools like South Florida and maybe even Central Florida will have taken some of the recruiting areas they've traditionally owned.

From all indications, Miami has gotten way behind on their agingfacilities.
Plus their probation status.
Personally(which is not worth much) I have viewed Miami as a rouge type institution.

<div>in 2011, the pac 12 signed TV deals worth $2.7B over 12 years.</div><div>
</div><div>in 2009, the sec signed TV deals worth $2.2B over 15 years.</div><div>
</div><div>the sec doesn't even need to add markets so much as add some half quality programs to come along with a&m and possibly mizzou to open up renegotiation. even if we only expand on the east within the current footprint, the sec is in line to sign a deal worth maybe $1B+ more than the current deal by expanding the number of programs and expanding into 2 populated states.</div><div>
</div><div>yeah i know mizzou isn't a done deal, but i feel pretty confident they will be the 2nd team on the west.</div>

and only1 of which came in the last 20 years. Any way you look at it, their program has seriously declined since that last national title 10 years ago. They're nowhere near the TV draw they once were (how often do you see them in a big national TV game anymore?)and they have no real fanbase of their own. And with probation looming, their future looks pretty cloudy for at least the next several years.
