I wondered if Richard Williams style of play didn't hold smith back a bit. He was such a leaper and a good finisher but rarely had the opportunity to get out in the fast break because of the pace that Williams liked to play.

There was never a triple-OT game against Ole Miss (it was 4 in 1990 - my favorite game ever) and Cameron Burns never hit two free throws to beat Ole Miss. He hit them to tie the game and send it to OT in 1991, which we won 84-80.

I lived for a time in the old Hardy Apartments that used to be on campus next to the old Stone Building, across from MacArthur. One day I look out the window and I see a pickup truck wheel into the parking lot. Brad and David Domingue are in the back of the truck. They screech to a stop and Brad hops out of the truck to go get something. When he runs back over to the truck he stops. Instead of jumping into the back of the truck off the run, he runs right up to it and stops. He proceeds to stand by the truck flatfooted, squats down, and jumps over the tailgate into the truck. Domingue was laughing like a "Holy crap did I just see a cracker do that" kind of laugh. I am pretty sure my mouth dropped open too.

the 4OT game was the best game I've ever seen...and the other one I was sitting dead behind the rim he shot them into to tie it up...it was so quiet in the Hump as he shot those FT's...

I correct this same mistake on the board about three times a year. Some people lose their minds when they get old.

It often gets forgotten that Greg Carter hitsome clutch shots at the end of regulation and in OT that were every bit as big as Burns' free throws.
