I still see John Marshall winning the region and heading back to states troy Tomlin is the real deal. But who else’s in 2a is at that level?

Class 2 is always extremely competitive top to bottom. Could see a decent amount of teams winning it. I was surprised to see John Marshall didn't make the top 10 cut on VA Preps preseason poll, they are certainly one of the best C2 school I think. Their preseason #1 Nelson passing the eye test early with two wins over C3 power Spotswood (who is admittedly down this year). Here's how VA Preps rolled out their preseason rankings:

#1 – Nelson County
#2 – Floyd County
#3 – Central-Wise
#4 – Graham
#5 – Martinsville
#6 – Thomas Jefferson-Richmond
#7 – Page County
#8 – Bruton
#9 – Lebanon
#10 – Central-Woodstock

Honorable Mention: Greensville, John Marshall, Gate City, Union, Fort Defiance, Dan River, Gretna and Arcadia

I personally think JM and Greensville should always be shoe-ins in the top 10, but alas. This is probably a good snippet of who has a real shot. I'm a little dubious of some of these teams (TJ, Page) and a little higher on others (think Central Woodstock and Union should be higher). Martinsville being relevant again is good for all of VHSL hoops. Right now, I think Nelson, JM, Graham and Martinsville are my personal favorites to cut down the nets - but again, C2 is wideeeee open.

I’ve seen Matoaca (a team that Greensville lost to) and with that being said, Greensville is not a very good team if they lost to Matoaca. I know many people will say that Matoaca is C5 and Greensville is C2, but Matoaca is one of the worst basketball teams I’ve seen.
