I can still hear the limbs breaking and popping for 3 days straight sounding like a civil war reenactment. 8+ days without power. We had just installed a wood insert the week before. The whole family slept in front of it and cooked canned biscuits, chili and soups right on top of it.
Then about 2-3 years later we had another round where it iced and then snowed about 3-6 inches on top of it and stayed for nearly a week. Didnt loose power that time though. Spent days playing in the snow and nights playing Donkey Kong on SNES. No school for a week, one of the best weeks of my child/earlyteen hood life.
