Nah we can't do anything like that. We should and it is awesome, but that might require Lemonhead to leave his bucket so you know it aint happening.

Not a fan. I did 31 years. I volunteered and got paid for it. I don't need or want to be honored. Too many vets out there malingering to get VA disability benefits and wanting discounts, recognition, etc.

I do have respect for actual combat vets, including the F4 pilot I had a dust up with, but not those vets, like me, who had it easy. I did deploy, but was "in the rear with gear."

Jxn is a much more dangerous place than Kuwait/Qatar (places I went).

It would be a good thing for all 3 of our major state universities to honor our vets. There are Veterans homes in Kosciusko, Collins and Oxford, all an easy distance from one of the 3 major state universities. Why not send these folks a dozen or so tickets to mid-week games and bring them over for some free baseball? Get the VA homes to provide transportation, give them a free coke and hotdog and just get them out of the homes for a little fun. Would not be a difficult thing to do and there are usually plenty of seats for mid-week games.

I’m sure they would be trilled for you to arrange for/pay for their tickets, food and transportation, while accommodating dietary, medical and mobility issues. Great idea and kudos for taking on this challenge!

I use to never ask for Veterans discounts until my cousin told how much money I could save at restaurants and stores. Even buying or having a car repair will save you 100's of dollars. I got to thinking could save money for my family. So, I got a VA card and yes it has saved me and my family 1000's of dollars. By the way when I joined, I was paid 850.00 a month. Maries have to buy their own uniforms. They did give me an extra 2.75 a day for combat pay when I got deployed. I kind of figured I was under paid and making up for it now with my discounts. I do have some arthritis from an injury i got while on active duty. I have not tried to get any VA benefit. My Causin says I am stupid. It's a real injury occurred on active duty, and I am suffering from it now. I should go for benefits. It might get me 300.00 to 400.00 a month. I recently joined the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). They said they have lawyers who will go to bat for me if I need one.
