You don't know rules. Lowering helmet is targeting. Doesn't matter if it is low

You can’t hit anyone with the crown of your helmet no matter where you hit them. It’s to protect the tackler as much as the guy getting tackled. You could break your neck smashing a guy with your head lowered. It’s what happened to Chucky Mullins.

I don’t necessarily agree with the spirit of the rule in all instances, but it was definitely a case of targeting by how its clearly written now in the rule book.

When I was in high school back in the Stone Age we had a guy do that in practice. Our coach went ballistic. He said if he saw anyone do that again he was going make the offender to tie his balls off with fishing line and run it up their back and over their head and tie the other end to the face mask. Put your head down and you are singing soprano. He correctly pointed out that was how you break your own neck.

Leading with your helmet head down has been illegal for a long time no matter where the hit lands. What's new is being ejected for it. The same guy got ejected for doing the same thing in this game last year.

Sermon is a stud. He's been a great runner his whole career. He's avg over 7 per carry last year at Oklahoma, and brought that up over 8 this year.

Our coach taught us to lead with our face mask and like you said before, he would go ballistic if you turned your face down to make a hit.

Before that helmet top to helmet top was the most macho thing you could do. With some of the helmets we had I am surprised more older 70's footballers weren't getting coloring books for Christmas.

No it’s not. Like others have mentioned. There are many instances where you could be diving with shoulder and have offensively player change direction and you make contact with you helmet. Regardless of your “Stone Age” teachings players typically don’t tackle with their damn face mask straight up. That may not be political correct but it’s the truth.
