Whenever DWS stadium expansion is discussed, it seems that someone always talks about Clemson's addition and how we need to do things similar to what they did. I got the chance to tour Clemson's West Endzone addition yesterday. So for those stadium design/economics geeks, here are some pics and figures on their addition.
West End Zone:
144,000 square feet of space in the WEZ Complex, including locker/equipment rooms.
$70,000,000 total cost once Phase III is completed
$486.11/ ft construction costs
Memorial Stadium:
81,000 sellable seats
Generates $13,000,000 + in revenue
IPTAY(Clemson's Bulldog Club) raises $18,000,000 with tickets as "benefit"
$383.72 in revenue per seat
Other notables:
For a club level seat, the season tickets are $1200/ ticket with a $25,000 donation to IPTAY
The $25,000 donation can be paid over 5 years.
Every club level ticket holder has a personal locker inside the WEZ that can be stocked w/ alcohol on Fridays and drunk freely during gametime
Skyboxes are $22,000/ season. All are currently rented except for two, which are leased on a game-by-game basis.
All WEZ was privately funded.
