He has only been the head coach for 6 years and has won 3 State Championships. Very good man and loves his players. We as fans will take this all day long.

You have no clue. The qb and running back next year will be excellent, can’t deny that. SP senior class overall next year will be good. Talent at Belmont Middle fell way off after this upcoming senior class but the saving grace for SP is the new Belmont population base helped the middle school bounce back much quicker than it originally thought. SP is well coached but they will need the assistance of those dreaded transfers after this senior class to slow their fall and keep pace in the Big South.
They'll get very few transfers due to that mummified offense they continue to run. They refuse change..... They'll go the way of the buffalo...
I have heard several times that Coach Hodge has spoken of opening the offense up to a more spread look. We will see.

Wilbanks is from below Spartanburg played for Boiling Springs high, then Gardner Webb................ A lot of them were crying until realignment happened and they can cake-walk... Wilbanks is from Gaffney I believe.
SP doesn't recruit anybody (obviously). Go check out the roster.

Am I taking crazy pills? It is public knowledge amongst "football fans" I thought....if you are the FB in that offense, unless you are one-legged with an eye patch you will rush for 1400 plus yards, avg. 5 plus a carry and get about 200 carries minimum.
I am not commenting on the current fullback when I say this...I'm commenting on them all: Whoever they put at FB doesn't even have to be good.....and they are going to get those numbers.
The best two ever: One was a 5'5 140 lb kid (20-21 timeframe) and the other a 5'9 174 lb kid (11-13 timeframe).
SP has put more misses at that position and done OK than "dudes".

LMAO. This is beyond rich. You talking about a conference and division of play where Bessemer City was 8-5 two years ago, where Cherryville was 6-6 last year? Half the league has HALF your ADM numbers.
Man - somebody buy up all the Kool Aid in the greater S. Cremer area because that HC is about to call a prayer meeting and tell you to turn your wives over. I will laugh for the next ten years about the words "success" and "Great coach" being uttered after this one football season in the Senior Middle School league.
Just try to string together three above .500 seasons in a row, and that coach can get to "maybe he knows what he's doing" status.
Then why not play the homegrown kids at that position? As you can see everyone from sports writers to lowly posters on message boards give that position all kinds of credit because of the stats it produces (no matter who is back there, your words not mine).
Could it be that the offensive coaches at SP are maybe showing that if you are a “dude” you can come here and play over the homegrown kids? Or maybe they are still working on getting to the “maybe knowing what they are doing status”.
Keep telling us how much you don't care, you are about to convince everybody you are not consumed by SC success by actively talking about them every chance you get on a message board.

Ill let the coaches and team know what they need to do to gain SP's approval, wait I forgot no one outside "the Berg" gives a crap.
Lastly, I love how ADM and conference strength is a key attribute of success now SP has been placed at the bottom of a classification. SP didnt have any problems collecting wins against lower ADM teams and "middle school teams" over their history which includes a few runs to the State Championship.
At the end of the day, SC has started in a winning direction, and for some reason that eats up the insides of some at SP. Get over it, or keep coming on message boards dismissing their success and demeaning every "win" they get by telling everyone how bad the conference is and the teams they play. If you take the later option, just make sure to take out the weak teams in your conference when you talk about SP win-loss record against Crest, Ashbrook and KM.
They have for the majority of 27 years. Maybe they are showing that to attract kids. God help the local HSs in GACO if SP does start recruiting.
Nobody that knows how to get in a 3 point stance has an outlook on SP like that.... as evidenced by the school that won't play them that is 1.5 miles away.

One thing about those CC teams...they don't duck anybody. All other GACO teams? Seemingly duck everybody and schedule the handicapped league members as much as possible.

Read that again. I'm not sure SC has an inferiority complex as much as SP has a superiority complex. I haven't seen many great programs, businesses, or anything have to tell everyone how good they are and how bad the competition is be fulfilled. The fact that you think SP has to give respect to make a team relevant tells us everything we need to know.
We get it you are mad that SC was placed in 4a and you have to compete in 5a, you see that as an unfairness. Since SC does not play SP, the SP program and fans have to keep the narrative alive of how much superior they are so no one forgets. I am sure if SC was in 5a and SP was in 4a you would use the same vigor to degrade any SP success that was had. It is getting sad. A program with as much earned success as SP doesn't need to continue the negative narrative, but we all hear it up here at SC. Kids talk. We know "Kramer" is talked about constantly within the program, we know the wailing and gnashing of teeth when you didn't get your big production pep rally against SC week, we know the SC playoff loss was announced and cheered in the SP locker room. For the life of me I don't know why SP sees SC as such a direct threat.

The offense has been very successful. SP has been around since 1969 and had 1 state title in 1979 until they started running the offense around 1998. Have won 3 state tittles since then. So yes the offense has been very successful. Still doesn’t mean kids are in line to go over there and run it. So please start recruiting kids. I don’t think you can get many of them to come there, but please start. You will turn it around and say no one wants to go to your school. No where on here have I said that. Your offense keeps you relevant and 7-3 or better every year vs being 5-5 if you didn’t run it. I personally think you have to keep the offense, don’t think you can change. I just don’t think very many “dudes” are going to rush right over there to run it whether you “recruit” them or not.

Only relevant thing to Cleveland County is SP having to downgrade every SC opponent (Shelby, Burns) in order to keep the narrative alive.

IF Sp plays and beats them = well coached, tough team, good win
IF Sp loses = all star team, cheating, refs
IF SC wins = bad team, bad conference

MUCH weaker schedule those 3 years? Lincolnton is the only team outside of CC to beat us in the regular season. The rest were Brevard, Monroe and Bunker Hill in the playoffs. Talk about a horrible analysis. 9 of the 13 losses were in our own county.
I never saw the majority of the Shelby fan base calling for Wilbanks head. I saw a few parents who lost their minds over losing a game but the majority has done nothing but support him. You ran off the best coach you have ever had minus Massey's one title run with Hillman and Bell. You hired a proven winner from SC and the man tried to quit after losing to your old coach who went on to win it all. I promise you, nobody is questioning anything about Burns right now. We are all in for next season and the years to come after. Can you say the same mindset is in KM right now with the current staff? I know an assistant coach who has told me quite the opposite.
When I am wrong, I am wrong. I thought Wilbanks had been with Shelby from day 1 so that's on me. They always hire within so after Taylor, Norman and Ware I thought Wilbanks came from the same pipeline.

Shelby has always hired within, but felt he had put in the time, the job was between him and coach Hawn. Which Hawn hadn't been there but 3-4 years..those 2 were finalist. There were few outsiders that put in for it...
That makes sense because I knew he had been there for a long time. It was my own bad assumption he was from the area.
