I looked at a few post last night and Cherryville is flexing about this Friday. lol They are coming in prepared to whip Burns. That is what a few posters are saying. I think we simmer that down by half but I will give credit to Bowman. When you have parents and the community hyped up about playing a CC team you are doing it right considering the history Cherryville has. They did not even want in this conference and now they are all about shocking the world. I like it.
Coach Bowman has those boys believing, and that matters. But talking is one thing and proving it Friday night is another. Let’s see who backs it up when the lights come on!

I can guarantee you that Coach Devine has treated this week like Cherryville is 7-0. He has done this long enough to know that you never overlook anyone. Cherryville needs this kind of hype because it is not something they have had in a long time. I think they will be a threat in their playoff bracket. This isn't East Gaston or WL coming to town though.

Congratulations to both Crest and KM Middle they put on a great show for us today..The game was closer than the score indicated and the County has a wave of athletes coming thru once again
Crest Middle have four kids who absolutely are going to be pieces to build around in the future for Crest High. I can see 2-3 of those kids contributing to varsity as freshmen as some point next year.

I agree with you that Coach Devine isn’t going to overlook anybody. That experience matters, especially heading into a conference game. And Coach Bowman deserves credit because Cherryville has won back to back games, scoring 101 points combined against West Lincoln and East Gaston. Both teams are 5-2, so this should be a good test. The difference is Burns has gone 5-0 in conference play, while Cherryville is 3-2. That’s why Friday matters. I respect the momentum Cherryville has built, and I agree they could be a threat in their playoff bracket. But playing well against one team and competing against a team with Burns’ conference results are two different challenges. I’m looking forward to seeing how both programs respond on the field. Nothing but respect for both programs!

It's not just the conference records. You gotta take into account both teams non-conference opponents also. If Burns had played Cherryville's non-conference games (Owen & North Stokes) they'd be 7-0. And had Cherryville played Burns' non-conference games (Crest & Kings Mountain) they'd be 3-4. This game may be close for a bit but it shouldn't be at the end. If Burns is what we all think, they should win by 24+.

Yes strength of schedule matters, absolutely. But hypothetical records don’t guarantee real outcomes. Burns lost to Crest and Kings Mountain, while Cherryville beat Owen and North Stokes. Friday’s matchup will reveal whether Burns’ conference dominance translates against Cherryville. A 24 point win isn’t guaranteed.

Burns will beat Cherryville by AT least 24. Dont get it twisted, they are doing some great things against the West Lincolns and Bessemer City schools of the conference, but Burns will drag them tomorrow

You seriously can't be comparing Crest & KM to Owen and North Stokes.... Come on now.... Cherryville will play well for a quarter or so especially at home but after that it'll be a blood bath

I think they seriously were comparing those teams. That’s the only way anyone could take that.

Ok. Let them talk. That talk will stop right after kickoff. Then reality will set in. Burns will destroy the tinmen just like always. Has Cherryville ever beaten Burns in football? Not that I can remember.

Probably in the 1960's when Burns and Crest were new.

I heard it was going to be packed tonight. Good! I hope it's a playoff type atmosphere because we have never had that against Cherryville. I would rather that happen than be up 49-0 in the first quarter like two years ago. Let them line it up and get after it.

They gonna be calling Yall Cherryville Zero Sugar.

Sometimes a youngster gets a few new hairs growing in places they haven’t had hair before.

It does something to them. So you have to smack the 💩out of them.

I mean they do realize they were down 48-0 to Shelby just a few weeks ago…right?

I went to their 1st home game and it was packed on the home side ,shocked me,lol. So I bet with some wins under their belt it will be a good crowd. If Burns get the slightest bit of defensive line pressure, game will end early.

Y’all got anymore Lincolnton TDs to take off the board with a flag this fine Saturday? I wasn’t surprised to hear about the called back TD in first half. And what were the flag count/differential?
Final penalties:
Lincolnton - 8 for 70 yards
Shelby - 6 for 50 yards
